Chapter 1 iPod Basics 9 Setting the Back light Timer Y ou can set the back light to turn on and illuminate the screen for a certain amount of time when you press a butt on or use the Click Wheel. The default is 1 0 seconds . m Choose Settings > Back light Timer and choose the time you want.

Chapter 2 Music Features 23 Updating iP od Manually Setting iT unes to let y ou update iP od manually give s you the most flexibility for managing music on your iP od. Y ou can add and delete songs and other items individually . Also , you can add songs from multiple c omputers to your iP od without deleting songs already on iP od.
24 Chapter 2 Music Features Downloading P odcasts to iP od Settings to download podcasts to an iP od are separate from settings to transfer songs. P odcast transfer settings don't aff ect song transfer settings, and vice versa.

Use the Click Wheel and Cen ter button to br owse for a song , audiobook, video , or podcast. Y ou only see menu items for P odcasts and Audiobooks if you ’ve do wnloaded those items to iP od.
26 Chapter 2 Music Features Depending on what type of audio you’ re listening to , you can press the Cen ter button repeatedly from the No w Playing screen to get t o other information and options , such as the rating screen for songs and a udiobooks, album ar t, podcast information, reading speed , and more.
Chapter 2 Music Features 27 T o play songs in the On-The-Go playlist: m Choose Music > Playlists > On-T he-Go and choose a song. T o remove a song from the On-T he-Go playlist: m Select a song in the playlist, and hold down the C enter button un til the song title flashes.
