Xserve ATA Controller Board - 2 4. If the ser v er is in the loc k ed position (the y ellow security LED on the front panel is on), use the Allen ke y that came with the server to unloc k it. 5. If the cable management arm is not in use, unplug all e xternal cables e xcept the pow er cord.
Xserve ATA Controller Board - 3 9. Grasp the thumbscre ws and slide the bottom housing f orward part wa y to e xpose the two chassis le v ers . (Figure 2) 10. While depressing both le v ers , pull the bottom housing all the w a y forw ard and remo v e it from the rac k.

If your version does not include a plastic duct ov er the heatsink, skip to step 3. 1. Release the latch on the heatsink duct from its slot, slide the cov er a wa y from the blo wer , and lift the end of the duct as shown.
Xserve ATA Controller Board - 5 3. If necessar y , disconnect the blower cab le nearest the A T A controller board. (Figure 4) 4. Press in on both ends of the clip securing the r ight side of the A T A controller board and remov e the clip from the server .
Xserve ATA Controller Board - 6 Installing the Replacement A T A Contr oller Board 1. Connect the replacement A T A controller board to the dr iv e interconnect and logic boards.

(Figure 6) Note: When replacing the A T A controller board clips, orient them so that the long end of each clip points aw a y from the middle of the server . Place the inside edge of the clip into the small notch and then snap down the outer edge of the clip .
