Electrostatic discharge may cause permanent damage to the unit. Note: Wireless XM transmitter and receiver is not supplied and must be purchased separately .
12 Setting up the unit The picture and sound of a nearby TV , VCR, or radio may be distorted during playback. If this occurs, position the unit away from the TV , VCR, or radio, or turn off the unit after removing the disc. The unit Connections Depending on your TV and other equipment there are various ways you can connect the unit.
13 Installation and Setup Audio Connection to Optional Equipment Connect the unit to your optional equipment for audio output. 1. Connect a VCR to the A V1 IN connectors (rear). 2. Connect an additional VCR to the A V2 IN connectors (front). 3. Connect an optical output of unit (or Digital Device etc) to the OPTICAL IN connector .
14 MONITOR OUT COMPONENT VIDEO OUT FM COAXAL IN Antenna Connections Connect the supplied BAND antenna for listening to the radio. Connect he FM Wire antenna to the FM antenna connector . Connect the AM Loop antenna to the AM antenna connector .
15 Installation and Setup HDMI Connection If you have a HDMI TV or monitor , you can connect it to this unit using a HDMI cable. 1. Connect the HDMI OUT jack on the unit to the HDMI jack on a HDMI compatible TV or monitor (H). 2. Set the TV’ s source to HDMI (refer to TV’s Owner’s manual).
16 Assembling and Connecting to the Speakers The front speakers are detached from the speaker stands. Connect the speaker cables and assemble the front speakers from speaker stands as illustrated. 1. Connect the speaker cables to the appropriate terminals on the bottom of each front speaker .

18 Selecting the Input/Output Source Follow these guidelines to select and switch among the various unit input and output sources: • DVD/CD To view output from the DVD deck: Press DVD on the remote or FUNCTION on the front panel until the DVD indicator on the front panel lights and output from the DVD deck is viewed on the TV screen.

21 Installation and Setup LANGUAGE OSD Select a language for the Setup menu and on-screen display . Disc Audio / Subtitle / Menu Select the language you prefer for the audio track (disc audio), subtitles, and the disc menu. Original – Refers to the original language in which the disc was recorded.
22 AUDIO Each DVD disc has a variety of audio output options. Set the receiver ’s AUDIO options according to the type of audio system you use. Dynamic Range Control (DRC) With the DVD* 1 format, you can hear a program’s soundtrack in the most accurate and realistic presentation possible, thanks to digital audio technology .
23 Installation and Setup LOCK (Parental Control) Rating Blocks playback of rated DVDs based on their content. Not all discs are rated. 1. Select “Rating” on the LOCK menu then press B . 2. T o access the LOCK options, you must input the password you have created.
24 Operation General features Buttons Operations Z (OPEN / CLOSE) Opens or closes the disc tray . X (P AUSE) During playback, press X to pause playback. Press X repeatedly to play Frame-by-Frame. SKIP ( . / > ) During playback, press SKIP ( . or > ) to go to the next chapter/track or to return to the beginning of the current chapter/track.
25 Playback Setup T urn on the TV and select the video input source connected to the unit. To open all discs Press DISC VIEW on the unit or OPEN/CLOSE on the remotecontrol to open all disc trays in the drawer during stop. “OPEN” will appear in the display window .
26 Notes on general features: If you press SKIP ( > ) once during Repeat Chapter (T rack) playback, the repeat playback cancels. Zoom may not work on some DVDs. The A-B repeat function is available only in the current title.
27 Operation Playing an Audio CD or MP3/WMA file This unit can play Audio CDs or MP3/WMA files recorded media. MP3/ WMA/ Audio CD Once you insert an MP3/WMA files recorded media or Audio CD, a menu appears on the TV screen. Press v / V to select a track/file then press PLA Y or ENTER and playback starts.
28 Vi ewing a JPEG file This unit can play discs with JPEG files. Before playing JPEG recordings, read the notes on JPEG Recordings on right. 1. Insert a disc and close the tray . The PHOTO menu appears on the TV screen. 2. Press v / V to select a folder , and press ENTER.
29 Operation Playing a DivX Movie file Using this unit you can play DivX disc. 1. Insert a disc and close the tray . The MOVIE menu appears on the TV screen.
30 DVD Audio Discs DVD Audio is a new disc format building on the success of DVD to provide high quality , uncompressed, multi-channel audio for a new experience in audio quality . A DVD Audio disc can be identified by the DVD audio logo on the disc jacket or on the disc itself.
31 Operation Presetting the Radio Stations Y ou can preset 50 stations for FM and AM. Before tuning, make sure that you have turned down the volume. 1. Press BAND on the Remote Control until FM or AM appears in the display window . 2. Press and hold TUN.
