vi Radio Interference Radio interference may occasionally cause buzzing and humming in your cordless Handset, or clicking noises in the Base Unit. This interference is caused by external sources such as TV , refrigerator , vac uum cleaner , fluorescen t lighting, com puter equipment, or electrical storm.
vii Battery Packs The Battery Packs contain rechargeable, s ealed, Nickel-Metal Hydrate batteries. T o reduce the risk of fire or injury to pe rsons by the battery , read and follow these instructions: • Use only the appropriate type and size Batt ery Pack specified in this user guide.

6 Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Guide Call Button These buttons are used for call access. They are not associated with specific lines. Instead, they are assigned to calls in the or der that the calls are placed or received. If there are more calls in progress than there are CALL buttons, new calls wait until a CALL button becomes available.
7 FINDING Y OUR WAY Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Gu ide I NST ALLING THE INT3000 Select a location for the INT3000 that av oids excessive heat or humidity . The Base Unit of your INT3000 can be placed on a desk or tabletop near a standard 120V AC outlet and telephone l ine jack.
8 Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Guide Att aching the Belt C lip to the Handset Y ou can use the Belt Clip to attach the Handset to your belt or pocket for convenient portability . 1. Snap the tab out of the Belt Clip notch on the top of the Handset. 2. Slide the clip into the tab sl ot.
9 FINDING Y OUR WAY Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Gu ide Recharging the Battery NOTE: Y ou can only use your INT 3000 with the Ha n dset when it is out of the Battery Charge r . The rechargeable Battery Pack must be fully charged before using your INT3000 for the first time (this requires 6-8 hours).

17 FINDING Y OUR WAY Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Gu ide Enterprise Messaging Enterprise Messaging (EM) is the Inter-T e l messaging syste m that uses industry-stan- dard protocols for co mmunication an d messaging. EM un ifies communicatio n and messaging by providing access to voice mail, fax, and e-mail messages in your mail- box.
18 Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Guide Automatic S peech Recognition (ASR) Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) is a feature available for systems using EM. Because ASR is a very flexible feature, it can be enabled or disabled on several differ- ent levels.

22 Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Guide I NTRODUCTION Now that you know what your INT3000 end point can do, it’ s time to start using it. In this section, you’ll learn how to make and receive calls, transfer calls, retrieve voice mail messages, and much more .

26 Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Guide Receiving Intercom Calls The endpoint will ring or vi brate to alert you. Also, a li ne indi cator on the disp lay may flash, and th e display may show inform ation about the call, such as caller ’ s name and extension.
27 GETTING ST ARTED Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Gu ide T o cancel a queue befor e the callback: Press . When dialing the number , you can do one of the following: • Use the speed-dial directory , see page 64 . • Use the station speed-dial feature, see page 57 .

30 Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Guide T RANSFERRING C ALLS Although transferrin g calls is considered a basic function of an endpoint, your end - point has many advanced options for this feature. With your endpoint, you can trans- fer to another extension, voice mail, or even an ou tside line.
31 GETTING ST ARTED Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Gu ide U SING R EVERSE T RANSFER The Reverse T ransfer (Call Pick Up) feature allows you to answer a call that is ring- ing or holding at anot her endpoint.
32 Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Guide F ORWARDING C ALLS W ith the Forwarding feature, you can have calls follow you (e.g., forwarded to a cell phone), or you can redirect calls to a voice mail or other extension. Manual Call Forwarding Manual call forwarding allows you to send in coming calls to another extension num- ber .
33 GETTING ST ARTED Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Gu ide Redirect Call NOTE: This feature is available only with version s 5.3 and higher . The Redirect Call feature allows you to forward any call that is ringing on your end- point without having to answer the call.
34 Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Guide R EDIALING A N UMBER In an ideal world, someone will always answer the endpoint when you call. But, because you will occasionally receive a busy signal or no answer , it’ s nice to have the Redial feature.
35 GETTING ST ARTED Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Gu ide S TA T I O N - TO - ST ATION M ESSAGES Leaving Messages If you call an endpoint that i s busy , does not answer , or is in do-not-disturb, you can use the station-to-station messaging feature to let the other person know you called.
36 Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Guide Receiving Messages If Y ou Do Not Have a MSG Button When you see MSG on your display: Dial to view the message, then press . A call is automatically placed to the endpoint or message cente r that left the first waiting message.

NOTE: If your telephone system uses Enterpri se Messaging (EM), your mailbox may have the Automatic S peech Recognition (ASR ) feature e nabled.

When ASR is enabled for your mailbox, you have th e option of issuing a spoken comman d or pressing a dialpad button.

41 GETTING ST ARTED Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Gu ide Recovering Deleted V oice Mail Messages If you accidently delete a voice mail messa ge, you can retrieve it within a specific time frame (programmed by yo ur system administrator). An y retrieved messages are then restored to your saved -message queu e.
42 Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Guide Recording and Sending V oice Mail Messages Y ou can record and send voice mail messa ges by accessing the record option on the main menu. NOTE: If E-Mail Reader is enabled for your mailbox, a reply to an e-mail messag e (see page 77 ) is a recorded voice message that is attached to the e-mail as a .

44 Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Guide Canceling Unheard V oice Mail Messages Y ou can cancel un retrieved messa ges that y ou have sent to individuals, bu t not mes- sages that you sent to group lists. T o cancel unheard voice mail messages: 1. Access your mailbox as d escribed on page 37 .
45 GETTING ST ARTED Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Gu ide U SING D O -N OT -D ISTURB M ODE If you are away from your d esk, or if you do no t want to be disturbed, you can use the DND feature. This halts all p ages and calls to your endpoint, except queue callbacks, recalls, and direct ring-in calls.

52 Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Guide Changing the V oice Mail Message Envelope When you receive a voice mail message, th e voice mail system plays an “envelope” that can include the time and date the mess age was left, the sour ce of the message, and/or the message length.

Each number is stored on yo ur endpoint (Station Speed- Dial) or in t he telephone system (System Sp eed-Dial) and is identified by a location number .

If s o, you can record an ongoing call as a mailbox message. Y ou can then retrieve the message, just as you would any other mailbox message.
61 MOVING ON Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Gu ide P AGING The Paging feature allows you to make an announcement throug h endpoi nt speakers or external speakers (if your system is e quipped with external paging equipment). T o prevent announcements from transmitti ng through every endpo int in the system, this feature uses page zones.
62 Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Guide P ERFORMING A “H OOKFLASH ” D URING A C ALL Certain telephone service companies may re quir e a timed hookflash (a quick hang up and release). T o generate a hookflash while using a line: Press and dial . NOTE: This features is known as a “Recall” in European systems.
63 MOVING ON Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Gu ide U SING A CCOUNT C ODES If your teleph one system is programmed to use the S tation Message Detail Recording (SMDR) feature, the system will periodica lly print out a record of telephone calls placed from the endpoints within the system .
64 Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Guide S CREENING C ALLS If desired, you can screen calls that are tr ansferred from voice ma il . This allows you to accept and/or refuse specific calls. Depe nding on the call screening transfer method you select (see page 53 ), calls from voice mail may be unannounced, announce only , or screened.

Enter letters or numbers (up to 10 characters) as described below: • Remain in alphanumeric mo de: Press the dialpad but tons to enter the desired characters. (See the chart below .) Th e number of times a button is pressed determines which character is entered.
66 Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Guide V oice Mail Directory W i th the voice mail directory , subscriber s and non-subscribers can use ASR (if enabled) or dialpad di gits to search for na mes in the directory . Subscriber na mes are automatically added to the directory when their mailbox is initialized.

71 MOVING ON Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Gu ide W ORK ING IN H UNT G ROUP S Y our system may be program med with “hunt groups.” H unt groups are groups of end- points that share a common extension number in addition to having individual exten- sion numbers.
72 Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Guide Logging In and Out of ACD Hunt Group Agents can log in to an d out of the AC D hunt group at any ti me. While logged in, t he agent receives calls through the ACD hunt gr oup. When the a gent is logged out, calls to that ACD hunt group bypass th e agent.
73 MOVING ON Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Gu ide When you log in to a g roup, you may be au tomatically connect ed to a call after you hear a short ring burst. If the ACD Agent ID Automa tic Connect option is enabled for your hunt group and you are using a headset, you will be automatically connected.

This section provides info rmation and instructions about a dvanced mailbox tasks for users who have E-Mail Reader enabled for their mailbox.
77 USING E-MAIL READER Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Gu ide E-M AIL R EADER F EATURES When E-Mail Reader has been enable d for your mailbox, you have the advanced mailbox. The advanced mailb ox unifies your local voice mail messages and your remote fax and e-mail messages in one conv enient location.
78 Inter-T el ® INT3000 User Guide U SING Y OUR A DVANCED M AILBOX After you set up your mailb ox (see page 22 ), you can use personal or system greetings to let callers know if you are out of town , on a call, etc. Y ou can send messages to individuals and to a group of people if your voice mail administrator has programmed a name for the group.
