8 Setting Up Y our Monitor Set T ime Forma t In "Set T ime F ormat" , you choose how the time shows on the monitor ’ s display window. Set Da te Format In "Set Date F ormat" , you choose how the month and day show on the monitor ’ s display window.

10 Setting Up Y our Monitor Minutes: The M inutes flash on and off . 1 Pr ess and Release the button to move the minutes forward. 2 If you go past the correct minut e, Pr ess and Release the button to move the minutes back . 3 Pr ess and Release the button to save the minutes and to move to Set Date.

How to Monitor Y our Blood Glucose Getting Started 1 Pr epare your lancing device. 2 W ash y our hands using warm soapy water and dr y them completely . 3 Remove the test strip from its foil packet. 4 Inser t the three black lines at the end of the test strip into the strip por t.
20 5 Push the test strip in until it stops. The monitor turns on automatically . These items show on the display window , one after the other: • Displa y Check – Remember to make sure that all items in the picture here show on the display window .
21 Obtaining A Blood Drop Use your lancing device to obtain a blood drop . Recommenda tions for Obtaining a Blood D r op • T o obtain a sample from an alternative site (f orearm, upper arm, or base of the thumb), use an appropriate alternative site lancing de vice .
Lancets and Lancing Device • Lancets are f or one-time use only. Use a new lancet each time you monitor . • Discard your used lancet pr operly. Put it in an empty puncture-resistant container , such as a plastic milk car ton or deter gent bottle. • Never share your lancing device or lancet with another person.
23 Correct Impor tan t: If the countdown does not start: What It Means : Y ou might not have applied enough blood to the test str ip . What to Do: Apply a second dr op of blood to the test strip. Refer to your test strip instructions for use for the number of seconds y ou hav e to apply a second dr op.
24 ▼ Understanding Y our Result "L O" Result What It Means: Y our monitor has determined that your blood glucose result is lower than 20 mg/dL or there may be a problem with the test strip. What to Do: Monitor y our blood glucose again with a new test strip.
25 Result 300 mg/dL or Higher When your blood glucose result is 300 mg/dL or higher , KET ONES? f lashes on and off on the display window . What to Do: Monitor y our blood glucose again with a ne w test strip . If the message appears again, follow y our healthcar e pr ofessional's instructions.
26 "E-4" Result What It Means: Y our blood glucose may be too high to b e r ea d b y t he s y s t e m, o r t h e r e ma y b e a problem with the test strip. ▼ 32 2 Discard the test strip properly . Note: Y ou may also turn the monitor off by P ressing and Holding the button. I f you do not turn your monitor off or pull the test strip out, the monitor shuts off automatically after 60 seconds.
33 CHAPTER 6 ▼ Revie wing & Using Y our Results What Can Y our Monitor Show Y ou? Memory Y our monitor has a memor y that stores up to 450 events. This is a combination of control results , your personal blood glucose r esults, and other monitor information.

35 A control solution result in Memor y shows with a control bottle, as long as you marked the test as a control solution test. 3 T o r eview previous results, Pr ess and Release the button once per result. 4 When you reach the last result in M emory, the display window shows three dashes .
