2 Preparation before Use 2-7 Power Off Timer If the machine is not used while in sleep mode , the power automatically turns off. The Power Off Timer is used to set the time until the power turns off. The factory setting for the time until the power turns off is 1 hour.
Preparation before Use 2-8 Switching the Language for Display [Language] Select the language displayed on the Message Display. Use the procedure below to select the lan guage. 1 Press the Power switch. 2 Press the System Menu/Counter key on the main unit operation p anel.

2 Preparation before Use 2-13 Network Setup (LAN Cable Connection) The machine is eq uipped with network in terface, which is compatible with network protocols such as TCP/IP (IPv4), TCP/IP (IPv6), IPX/SPX, NetBEUI, IPSe c, and AppleTalk. It enables network printing on the Windows, Macintosh, UNIX, NetWar e and othe r platforms .

2 Preparation before Use 2-15 Inst alling Sof tware Ensure the printer is plugge d in and connected to the PC before installing the printe r driver from the DVD. Inst alling the Sof tware in W indows If you are connecting this printe r to a Windows PC, follow the next steps to install the printer drive r.

2 Preparation before Use 2-21 10 Click the IP icon for an IP connec tion and then enter the IP addr ess and printer name. When you click the AppleT al k icon for an AppleT alk co nnection, enter the printer name . NOTE: AppleT alk icon is not displa yed on Mac O S X 10.

Uninst alling Sof tware (W indows PC) The softw are can be uninstalled (re moved) us ing the DVD ( Product L ibrary) supp lied with the printer.

If user login administration is invalid, go to S t ep 7. 6 Select the checkbox beside Authen tication, enter Login User Name (up to 64 char acters) and Passw ord (up to 64 characters) and then click OK .

NOTE: The following is not necessary to register wh en using the machine posse sses an IP address or host name that you have specified during inst allation of WIA Driver .
Preparation before Use 2-26 COMMAND CENTER (Settings for E-mail) COMMAND CENTER is a tool used for tasks such as verifyin g the op erating status of the m achine and changin g the settings f or securit y, network p rinting, E-mail transmission and advanced networkin g.
2 Preparation before Use 2-27 Sending E-mail Specifying the SMTP settings allows you to send images loaded onto this machine as E-mail attachments. To use this function, this machine must be conn ected to a mail serve r using the SMTP protoc ol.
