2 Getting Started Charging the b attery The bat tery is part ially charged wh en you r eceive y our phone. Y o u must hav e at least a part ial charg e in the bat tery to make or r eceive calls, regard less of whether or not the AC adapt er is connected to the phone.

Note t hat this f unction works only f or the current call. Once the call is ended, t he speakerph one turns of f and earpiece v olume retu rns to normal.

However , to receiv e data o r f axes, y ou must swit ch fr om voice mode to data/f ax mo de. Note: Y ou cann ot receiv e voice calls whil e the phone is in d ata/fax mode.

This is usef ul if you are in an area that borders on di gital service and t he automatic f eature is causing t he phone to k eep switching b etween modes.

Howev er , when you make a 911 call, your phone enters Emergency Mode . This enables the emergency service exc lusive ac cess to y our phone t o call you b ack, if necessary .

These emoticons ar e like a sophist icated set of “smiley f aces. ” If th e recipient’ s phone suppor ts the same technolog y as your phone, they app ear as you see th em.
