Installing Your Monitors The close-f ield monito r , by definit ion, re duces r oom inter acti on. This can be compar ed to the conve nti onal stereo config urati on or the lar ge moni tor arrangem ent in a recor ding studio where sounds emanating from the monitor or reflecting off ceilings, walls, and floors greatly affect the sound quality .
Positioning Your Monitors Positioning your monitors correctly in the studio is critical to their performance. T ypically , t hey sho uld b e pl ace d so tha t th e lis ten ing posit ion i s ful ly “ cove red” wit h al l mo nito rs rest ing on t he s ame hor izon tal p lan e.
11 Mid-Field Configuration – This configuration is similar to the Close-Field configuration. It is normally used with lar ger monitors or when the monitors ar e too large or hea vy to be pla ced on the work surfa ce. This s et up has the potent ial fo r a la rger s weet s pot a nd better spatial imaging.
