Press and hold to turn the squelch OFF. / keys Press or to increase or decrease the volume, channel number, channel code, or station when in the appropriate mode.

Use high quality alkaline batteries to enjoy longer periods of batter y lif e. 1 If the belt hook is installed, first remov e it from the transceiv er (refer to “I NST ALLING / R EMOVING THE B EL T H OOK ” on page 4).
4 ENGLISH I NST ALLING / R EMOVING THE B EL T H OOK 1 Align the belt hook tabs with the guides on the rear of the transceiv er . 2 Slide the belt hook down the guides until it loc ks in place. 3 T o remove the belt hook, pull bac k on the le ver on the top of the belt hook and slide the belt hook out of the guides.

6 ENGLISH GETTING ST ARTED 1 S WITCHING THE P OWER ON/ OFF T o switch the transceiv er pow er ON (or OFF), press and hold the s witch for 3 seconds. • A tone sounds to confir m that the power has been s witched ON (or OFF). 2 S ELECTING AN O PERA TING M ODE 1 Press and hold the MODE ke y to cycle through FRS, FM, and FRS/FM Models.
7 ENGLISH FRS MODE 1 S ELECTING A C HANNEL 1 Press the MODE ke y momentar ily . • The FRS and CH icons blink. 2 Press the ▲ or ▼ k ey to increase or decrease the channel number . • Press and hold the ▲ or ▼ key to continuously increase or decrease the channel number until y ou release the key .
8 ENGLISH 1 Press the MODE ke y momentarily , two times. • The FRS and SUB icons blink. 2 Press the ▲ or ▼ ke y to increase or decrease the code number of the selected channel. • Press and hold the ▲ or ▼ ke y to continuously increase or decrease the code number until you release the k ey .
9 ENGLISH 4 C HANNEL S CANNING 1 When you w ant to scan all channels f or a signal, press the MODE ke y momentar ily , three times. • The FRS , CH , and SCAN icons blink and the transceiver scans the channels from channel 1 to 14. • All channel codes are tur ned off dur ing scan.
10 ENGLISH FM MODE 1 S ELECTING A S T ATION 1 Press the MODE ke y momentarily . • The FM icon blinks. 2 Press the ▲ or ▼ ke y to increase or decrease the FM station. 3 Once you ha ve selected y our desired station, press the PTT switch. • Pressing the M ke y after selecting a station will retur n to the last station you were using.
11 ENGLISH FRS/FM MODE 1 S ELECTING AN FRS C HANNEL Only one FRS station can be monitored while in FRS/FM Mode. The channel monitored is the last channel y ou used while in FRS Mode. T o select a channel, you must first enter FRS Mode , then select a channel as described in “ 1 Selecting a Channel” on page 7.
12 ENGLISH 3 S CANNING THE FM B AND 1 When y ou want to scan the FM radio band to find a station, press and hold the ▲ or ▼ k ey f or 0.5 seconds. • The FM and SCAN icons blink and the transceiv er scans the FM radio band. 2 When a station is f ound, scan will pause at that station f or 10 seconds.
13 ENGLISH OPERA TING FEA TURES M ONITORING AN FRS C HANNEL When you are not receiving a call, the squelch on the transceiv er automatically mutes the speak er so that you will not hear v er y weak signals or bac kground noise. Deactivating this f eature to listen to backg round noise mak es adjusting the v olume simpler as well.
