10 T ASCAM T A- 1 VP About the technology The models employed b y the T A-1VP are not derived from theoretical c onsiderations. They are generated b y a proprietary analysis process that is applied to each physical mic modeled .
T ASCAM T A- 1 VP 11 Limiting Examine the 99:1 cur ve in the abo ve graph. This setting reduces all sounds abov e the threshold to the same loudness. This is called limiting. Limiting is usually employed to allo w a dynamic signal to be rec orded at a maximum level with no risk that transient peaks will r esult in overload.
12 T ASC AM T A- 1 VP Used on a vocal track, this setting will compress only hot peaks in the voice , while gating out the room sounds, mike stand sounds, and brea th noises in the track. Pr ecisely what gets compressed and gated is a function of the compressor and gat e threshold settings.
T ASCAM T A- 1 VP 13 Wha t is a De -Esser? When recor ding spoken or sung material, the sibilants (Ss, T s, CHs , and SHs) in the track often sound louder than the rest of the signal .
