5 Features High-sensitivity CCD and bright zoom lens The CCD f eatures an improved sensitivity and the z oom lens has a large aperture ratio of f1.6 (at WIDE end). These features provide the camer a with a high sensitivity of 2.0 lx in the color mode (50% output, A GC 20 dB).

17 5. Connecting a LAN Cable Connect the camera to a hub or a PC by using a LAN cab le. Note F or 100 BASE-TX, use a CA T -5 cable. • For hub connection Use a straight cable . • For PC connection Use a cross-ov er cable . Caution There are a f ew types of LAN board f or which a cross-ov er cab le cannot be used.
18 6. Connecting the Alarm I/O T erminals Connect to the equipment with alarm input terminal using the alarm signal cable. Input Requirements • No-voltage rela y input or NPN open collector input • The polarity of the input detection can be selected via software .

20 1. Attaching a saf ety wire. Attach a saf ety wire to the Ceiling Mount and to the ceiling slab or channel to pre vent the unit from being able to f all to the floor . First attach the saf ety wire to the Ceiling Mount by passing the wire through the saf ety wire hole (see the diagr am on the left).
21 Attaching the Camera 1. Attach the drop pre vention wire . As shown in the diag ram, take the drop pre- v ention wire from the camer a and attach it to the hook on the Ceiling Mount. Be sure to connect the drop pre vention wire . Otherwise, the camer a will not fit proper ly to the Ceiling Mount.
22 4. Rotate the camera. Make sure that the camera is horiz ontal, then turn the camera clockwise until it stops. En- sure that the camera-clamping brac ket is in line with the locking scre w of the Ceiling Mount. 5. Tighten the locking scre w . Tighten the lock scre w using a Phillips screw- driver .
23 Installing the Software Installing V .Netw orks Controller 1. Select [Setup.e x e] found in the [JVC] f older . 2. Proceed by f ollowing the instructions shown on the screen. 3. If the installation is successfully ex ecuted, the [V .Netw orks] icon is created in [Programs] of the Windows [Start] menu.
24 Setting the PC’ s IP Address for Windows XP Settings (Step 2 Setting the Network) After attaching the camera, pr oceed to set the IP address of the PC b y which the camera is operated. With Windows XP , f ollow the pr ocedure below to set the IP ad dress.
25 3. Select [Internet Pr otocol (TCP/IP)] and click [Pr operties]. 4. Select [Use the f ollowing IP address] to set [IP Address] and [Subnet Mask] and then c lick . Select [Inter net Protocol (TCP/IP)]. 5. Click in [Local Area Connection Properties].
26 Setting the PC’ s IP Address for Windows 2000 Settings (Step 2 Setting the Network) After attaching the camera, pr oceed to set the IP address of the PC b y which the camera is operated. With Windows 2000, f ollow the procedure belo w to set the IP address.

28 Setting the IP Address for VN-C655 with V .Networks Setup T ool Settings (Step 2 Setting the Network) Set the IP address f or VN-C655 by using the installed [V .Networks Setup T ool]. (With this [V .Networks Setup tool] only VN-C655, not other models, can be connected.
29 Note In a system where more than one VN-C655 are used, turn on the power f or a VN-C655 first and proceed the setting to Step 3 Settings with V .Networks Setup T ool. Only then tur n on the power f or a second one and go on to Step 3. Repeat the procedure for the other cameras .
