5 English About the speaker impedance The required speaker impedance of the front speakers does dif fer depending on whether both the FR ONT SPEAKERS 1 and FR ONT SPEAKERS 2 terminals are used or only one of them is used. Front speaker 1 Front speaker 1 Use front speakers with 8 Ω – 16 Ω impedance.

8 English Connecting the Power Cor d Before plug ging the recei ver into an A C outlet, make sure that all connections have been made. Plug the power cor d into an A C outlet. Keep the po wer cord away from the connecting cables and the antenna. The power cor d may cause noise or screen interference.

11 English Muting the Sound Fr om the remote control ONL Y : Pr ess MUTING to mute the sound through all speak ers and headphones connected. “MUTING” appears on the display and the v olume turns off (the v olume le vel indica tor goes of f). T o r estore the sound, press MUTING again so that “OFF” appears on the display .
12 English Basic Settings Some of the following settings are required after connecting and positioning your speakers in your listening room, while others will make operations easier .
13 English Center Delay Time Setting Re gister the delay time of the sound from the center speaker , comparing to that of the sound from the front speakers. If the distance from your listening point to the center speak er is equal to that to the front speak ers, select 0 msec.
14 English Crossover Fr equency Setting Small speakers cannot reproduce the bass sound very well. So, if you have used a small speaker f or an y of the fr ont, center , and rear channels, this recei v.
15 English Selecting the Analog or Digital Input Mode When y ou ha ve connected digital source components, y ou need to select the input mode correctly according to the connection you made.
16 English Storing the Basic Settings and Adjustments Y ou can assign and store dif ferent sound settings f or each dif ferent playing sour ce. By using this function, you do not ha ve to change the settings ever y time you change the source. The stored settings for the newly selected source are automatically recalled.
17 English Receiving Radio Br oadcasts Y ou can br owse thr ough all the stations or use the preset function to go immediately to a par ticular station. T uning in Stations Manually On the fr ont panel: 1. Pr ess FM/AM to select the band (FM or AM). The last recei ved sta tion of the selected band is tuned in.

20 English Reproducing the Sound Field The sound heard in a concert hall or club consists of direct sound and indirect sound — early reflections and reflections from behind. Direct sounds reach the listener directly without any reflection. On the other hand, indirect sounds are delayed by the distances of the ceiling and walls.

26 English COMPU LINK Remote Contr ol System The COMPU LINK remote control system allows you to operate JVC audio components through the remote sensor on the receiver .
