9 ENGLISH RADIO OPERA TIONS Listening to the radio Y ou can use either automatic searching or man ual searching to tune in to a par ticular station. Searching a station automatically: Auto search 1 Select the band (FM 1 – 3, AM). Each time you press the button, the band changes as follo ws: Note: This r eceiver has three FM bands (FM1, FM2, FM3).
10 ENGLISH 3 T une in to a station you want while “ M ” (manual) is flashing. • If you release y our finger from the button, the manual mode will automatically turns off after 5 seconds. • If you hold do wn the button, the frequency keeps changing (in 50 kHz intervals f or FM and 9 kHz intervals for AM) until y ou release the button.
11 ENGLISH Manual preset Y ou can preset up to 6 stations in each band (FM1, FM2, FM3, and AM) manually . Ex.: Storing FM station of 88.3 MHz into the preset number 1 of the FM1 band. 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM) you want to store stations into (in this example, FM1).

13 ENGLISH Locating a track or a particular portion on a disc T o fast-for ward or reverse the track • When playing a VCD , no sound comes out during search. 14 ENGLISH Displaying the disc information on the monitor (OSD: On Screen Display) This operation is possible only with the remote controller . Y ou can chec k the track number and elapsed playing time of a disc on the monitor when using the monitor .
15 ENGLISH Operating a VCD with menus (PBC: Playback Control) This operation is possible only with the remote controller . The Playbac k Control function (PBC) allows you to operate the VCD using menus. 1 Press PBC while playing bac k a VCD . Once the VCD playback stops and a menu will automatically appear on the screen.
16 ENGLISH Selecting the audio channel of the Karaoke VCD This operation is possible only with the remote controller . Y ou can change the pla yback channel of the Karaok e VCDs. Press A UDIO. Each time you press the button, the pla yback sound changes as follo ws: The channel selected appears on the monitor for a while .
17 ENGLISH Refer also to “ CD/VIDEO CD (VCD) OPERA TIONS ” on pages 12 to 16. What is MP3? MP3 is an abbre viation of Motion Picture Exper ts Group (or MPEG) A udio Lay er 3. MP3 is simply a file format with a data compression ratio of 1:10 (128 Kbps*).

How to handle discs When removing a disc from its case, press down the center holder of the case and lift the disc out, holding it by the edges .
