6 ENGLISH RADIO OPERA TIONS Listening to the radio 1 Select the band (FM1, FM2, FM3 or AM). Y ou can select any one of FM1, FM2, and FM3 to listen to an FM station.

When one side of the tape reaches its end during play , the other side of the tape automatically starts playing. (A uto Re verse) 2 T ur n on or off the Dolby B NR* as needed.

24 ENGLISH OTHER MAIN FUNCTIONS Changing general settings (PSM) Y ou can change the f ollowing settings for this unit b y using the PSM (Preferred Setting Mode) control. • PSM CLOCK (H/M): Adjusts the built-in clock (see below). • PSM BEEP: T urns on or off the k e y-touch tone (see page 25).
ENGLISH 25 T urning on or of f the key-touch tone When shipped from the factory , the k ey-touch tone function is on so that y ou can hear a “beep” each time you press a b utton. If you want to turn off this function, follo w the procedure below .
26 ENGLISH Selecting the exter nal component to use Y ou can connect the external component to the CD changer jack on the rear using the Line Input Adaptor KS-U57 (not supplied). T o use the external component as the playbac k source through this unit, you need to select which component — CD changer or e xter nal component — to use .
ENGLISH 27 REMOTE OPERA TIONS Before using the remote controller: • Aim the remote controller directly at the remote sensor on the main unit. Mak e sure there is no obstacle in between. • Do not expose the remote sensor to strong light (direct sunlight or ar tificial lighting).
28 ENGLISH Using the r emote controller 1 Functions the same as the ATT button on the main unit. 2 Selects the source. Each time you press FUNC (function), the source changes. 3 Functions the same as the control dial on the main unit. Note: This button does not function f or the pr eferred setting mode (PSM) adjustment.
ENGLISH 29 CD CHANGER OPERA TIONS We recommend that you use one of the CH-X series with your KW -XC770. If you hav e another CD automatic changer , consult your JVC car audio dealer for connections . • F or e xample, if your CD automatic c hanger is one of the KD-MK series, y ou need a cord (KS-U15K) for connecting it to this unit.

ENGLISH 31 T o play back tracks at random (Random Play) Each time you press RND B .SKIP (Random/Blank Skip) while pla ying a CD , CD random pla y mode changes as follo ws: Mode RND indicator Plays at random RANDOM 1 ON Lights All tracks of the current disc, then the tracks of the next disc, and so on.

ENGLISH 33 MAINTENANCE Handling cassettes The cassette deck built in this unit requires very little attention, but y ou will be able to e xtend the life of the cassette deck if y ou follo w the instr uctions below .
34 ENGLISH Center holder Handling CDs The CD pla yer built in this unit has been designed only to pla y back the CDs bear ing the COMPACT DIGITAL AUDIO mar k. Other discs cannot be pla yed bac k. How to handle CDs When remo ving a CD from its case, press do wn the center holder of the case and lift the CD out, holding it by the edges .
ENGLISH 35 TROUBLESHOOTING What appears to be trouble is not alwa ys serious. Chec k the following points before calling a ser vice center . Symptoms • CD cannot be pla y ed bac k. • CD sound is sometimes interrupted. • “NO DISC” appears on the display .
36 ENGLISH Symptoms • “RESET 8” appears on the display . • “RESET 1-RESET 7” appears on the displa y . • CD can neither be played back nor ejected. • This unit does not work at all. • The CD changer does not wor k at all. Remedies Connect this unit and the CD changer correctly and press the reset button of the CD changer.
