4 ENGLISH BASIC OPERA TIONS T urning on the power 1 T urn on the power . Notes on One-T ouch Operation: • When you select a sour ce in step 2 below , the power automatically comes on. Y ou do not have to press this b utton to turn on the power . • If the cassette is alr eady in the cassette compartment, tape play starts automatically .
5 ENGLISH Setting the clock 1 Press and hold SEL (select) for more than 2 seconds. “ CLOCK H ” or “ CLOCK M ” appears on the displa y . 2 Set the hour . 1 Select “ CLOCK H ” (hour) if not shown on the displa y . 2 Adjust the hour . 3 Set the minute.
6 ENGLISH RADIO OPERA TIONS Listening to the radio Y ou can use either automatic searching or manual searching to tune in to a particular station. Note: When a cassette is in the cassette compartment, you cannot select the tuner . Be sure to eject the cassette fr om the cassette compartment to listen to the radio.
7 ENGLISH 2 Press and hold or until “ M ” (manual) starts flashing on the display . 3 T une in to a station y ou want while “ M ” (manual) is flashing. • If you release your finger from the b utton, the manual mode will automatically turns off after 5 seconds.
8 ENGLISH Manual preset Y ou can preset up to 6 stations in each band (FM1, FM2, FM3, and AM) manually into the number b uttons (1 – 6). • Y ou can also preset an FM or AM station (such as your f av orite station or traffic announcement station) into the EX (e xtra) button, and recall it by one-touch oper ation ev en if the unit is turned off.
9 ENGLISH T APE OPERA TIONS Listening to a cassette Y ou can pla y back type I (normal) tapes. 1 T urn on the power . Note on One-T ouch Operation: If a cassette is alr eady in the cassette compartment, tape play starts automatically . However , it is not recommended to leave the cassette in the compartment when turning off the power .
10 ENGLISH SOUND ADJUSTMENTS Adjusting the sound Y ou can adjust the sound characteristics to your preference . 1 Select the item you want to adjust. Each time you press the button, the adjustab le items change as follo ws: Indication T o do: Range BAS Adjust the bass.
11 ENGLISH Selecting preset sound modes Y ou can select a preset sound adjustment suitable to the m usic genre. Select the sound mode you want. Each time you press the b utton, the sound mode changes as follo ws: Indication For: Preset values BAS TRE S.
12 ENGLISH Y ou can detach the control panel when leaving the car . When detaching or attaching the control panel, be careful not to damage the connectors on the back of the control panel and on the panel holder . Detaching the control panel Before detaching the control panel, be sure to turn off the power .
13 ENGLISH TROUBLESHOOTING What appears to be trouble is not alw ays serious. Check the f ollowing points before calling a service center . Remedies Check the cords and connections. Adjust it to the optimum le vel. Check the cords and connections. While holding SEL (select), press (standby/on/ attenuator) f or more than 2 seconds.
14 ENGLISH MAINTENANCE This unit requires very little attention, but y ou will be able to e xtend the life of the unit if y ou follo w the instructions below . T o clean the head • Clean the heads after e very 10 hours of use using a wet-type head cleaning tape (a vailable at an audio store).
