2 ENGLISH How to reset your unit Press and hold both the SEL (Select) and (Standby/On/A TT) b uttons at the same time for se ver al seconds. This will reset the built-in microcomputer . NOTES: Y our preset adjustments — such as preset channels or sound adjustments — will also be erased.

6 ENGLISH Preparing the remote controller Before using the remote controller: • Aim the remote controller directly at the remote sensor on the main unit. Make sure there is no obstacle in between. • Do not expose the remote sensor to strong light (direct sunlight or artificial lighting).
7 ENGLISH BASIC OPERA TIONS 4 Adjust the sound as you want (see pages 14 – 16). T o drop the volume in a moment Press briefly while listening to any source. “A TT” star ts flashing on the display , and the volume level will drop in a moment. T o resume the previous v olume level, press the button briefly again.
8 ENGLISH RADIO BASIC OPERA TIONS T o stop searching bef ore a station is received, press the same button you have pressed for searching. Searching a station manually: Manual search 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM). Note: This r eceiver has three FM bands (FM1, FM2, FM3).
9 ENGLISH 3 T une into a station you want while “ M ” is flashing. • If you release your finger from the button, the manual mode will automatically turn off after 5 seconds.
10 ENGLISH Manual preset Y ou can preset up to 6 stations in each band (FM1, FM2, FM3 and AM) manually . Ex: Storing an FM station of 88.3 MHz into the preset number 1 of the FM1 band 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM) you want to store FM stations into (in this example, FM1).
11 ENGLISH Playing a CD 1 Insert a disc into the loading slot. The unit turns on, draws a CD and starts playbac k automatically . Note: • When a CD is inserted upside down, the CD automatically ejects. CD OPERA TIONS T o stop play and eject the CD Press 0 .
12 ENGLISH Selecting CD playback modes T o play back tracks at random (Random Play) Y ou can pla y back all trac ks on the CD at random. Each time you press MO RND (monaural/random) while playing a CD, CD random play mode turns on and off alternately .
13 ENGLISH Prohibiting CD ejection Y ou can prohibit CD ejection and can loc k a CD in the loading slot. Press and hold CD and 0 for more than 2 seconds. “EJECT” flashes on the display for about 5 seconds, and the CD is locked and cannot be ejected.
14 ENGLISH SOUND ADJUSTMENTS Adjusting the sound Y ou can adjust the sound characteristics to your preference. 1 Select the item you want to adjust. Each time you press the button, the adjustable items change as follows: Indication T o do: Range BAS Adjust the bass.
15 ENGLISH • When “ SCM LINK ” is set to “ LINK ON ” , the selected sound mode can be stored in memory for the current source and the eff ect applies only to the current source. • When “ SCM LINK ” is set to “ LINK OFF ” , the selected sound mode effect applies to an y source.
16 ENGLISH Storing your own sound adjustments Y ou can adjust the sound modes (BEA T , SOFT , POP) to your preference and store your own adjustments in memor y . • There is a time limit in doing the following procedure. If the setting is canceled before you finish, start from step 1 again.
17 ENGLISH OTHER MAIN FUNCTIONS Setting the clock 1 Press and hold SEL (select) for more than 2 seconds. “CLOCK H”, “CLOCK M”, “SCM LINK” or “LEVEL ” appears on the display . 2 Set the hour . 1 Select “CLOCK H” if not shown on the display .
18 ENGLISH Selecting the level display Y ou can select the le vel displa y according to your preference. When shipped from the factory , “A UDIO 2” is selected. A UDIO 1: Lev el meter illuminates from bottom to top. A UDIO 2: Alter nates lev el meter (mov es from bottom to top) and illumination display .
19 ENGLISH Detaching the control panel Y ou can detach the control panel when lea ving the car . When detaching or attaching the control panel, be careful not to damage the connectors on the back of the control panel and on the panel holder . How to detach the control panel Before detaching the control panel, be sure to turn off the power .
20 ENGLISH MAINTENANCE Handling CDs This unit has been designed only to reproduce the CDs bearing the following marks. Y ou can also pla y back y our original CD-Rs (Recordable) and CD-R Ws (Rewritable) on this receiver . This unit is not compatible with MP3.
21 ENGLISH TROUBLESHOOTING What appears to be trouble is not always serious. Check the following points before calling a service center . Symptoms • CD cannot be played back. • CD sound is sometimes interrupted. • Sound cannot be heard from the speakers.

PRECAUTIONS on power supply and speaker connections: • DO NO T connect the speaker leads of the power cor d to the car battery; otherwise, the unit will be seriousl y damaged. • Connect the blac k lead (ground), yello w lead (to car batter y , constant 12V), and red lead (to an accessor y terminal) correctly .
