5 ENGLISH BASIC OPERA TIONS T urning on the power 1 T urn on the power . Note on One-T ouch Operation: When you select a sour ce in ste p 2 below , the power automatically comes on. Y ou do not have to press this b utton to turn on the power . 2 Select the source.
6 ENGLISH RADIO BASIC OPERA TIONS Listening to the radio Y ou can use either automatic searching or man ual searching to tune in to a par ticular station. Searching a station automatically: Auto search 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM). Note: This r eceiver has three FM bands (FM1, FM2, FM3).
7 ENGLISH Searching a station manually: Manual search 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM). Note: This receiver has thr ee FM bands (FM1, FM2, FM3). Y ou can use any one of them to listen to an FM br oadcast. 2 Press and hold ¢ or 4 until “M (manual)” starts flashing on the display .
8 ENGLISH Storing stations in memor y Y ou can use one of the f ollowing two methods to store broadcasting stations in memory . • Automatic preset of FM stations: SSM (Strong- station Sequential Mem.
9 ENGLISH 3 Press and hold the number button (in this example, 1) for more than 2 seconds. 4 Repeat the above procedure to store other stations into other preset numbers. Notes: • A pre viously preset sta tion is erased when a new station is stor ed in the same preset number .
10 ENGLISH Playing a CD 1 Insert a disc into the loading slot. The unit turns on, draws the CD and star ts pla yback automatically . Note on One-T ouch Operation: When a CD is alr eady in the loading slot, pr essing the CD button turns on the unit and starts playback automatically .
11 ENGLISH Locating a track or a particular portion on a CD T o fast-forward or reverse the track T o go to the next tracks or the pr evious tracks Press and hold ¢ , while playing a CD , to fast-f orward the trac k. T o go to a par ticular track directly Press the number button corresponding to the trac k number to star t its playback.
12 ENGLISH T o play back tracks repeatedly (Repeat Play) 1 Press MODE to enter the functions mode while playing a CD . This unit enters the functions mode. 2 Press RPT (repeat), while still in the functions mode, so that the RPT indicator lights up on the display .
13 ENGLISH SOUND ADJUSTMENTS Adjusting the sound Y ou can adjust the sound characteristics to your preference . 2 Adjust the level. Note: Normally , the + and – buttons work as the volume contr ol buttons. So you do not have to select “VOL” to adjust the volume level.

16 ENGLISH OTHER MAIN FUNCTIONS T o check the current clock time or change the display mode Press DISP (display) repeatedly . Each time you press the button, the display mode changes as follo ws: • During tuner operation: • During CD operation: • During power off: The power turns on and the clock time is shown for 5 seconds .
17 ENGLISH Selecting the level display – LEVEL Y ou can select the le vel displa y according to your preference . When shipped from the factory , “V OL2” is selected. • VOL1: Shows the v olume lev el indicator. • VOL2: Alternates “V OL1” setting and illumination display .
18 ENGLISH Detaching the control panel Y ou can detach the contol panel when lea ving the car . When detaching or attaching the control panel, be careful not to damage the connectors on the back of the control panel and on the panel holder . Detaching the control panel Before detaching the control panel, be sure to turn off the power .
19 ENGLISH MAINTENANCE COMPACT DIGITAL AUDIO Center holder Handling CDs This unit has been designed to reproduce CDs and CD-Rs. • Other discs cannot be played bac k. How to handle CDs When removing a CD from its case, press down the center holder of the case and lift the CD out, holding it by the edges.
20 ENGLISH TROUBLESHOOTING What appears to be trouble is not alw ays serious. Check the f ollowing points bef ore calling a ser vice center . Causes CD is inser ted upside down. Y ou are driving on rough roads. The CD is scratched. Connections are incorrect.
