ENGLISH 5 Remote controller 3 Selects the preset stations while listening to the radio . Each time you press the b utton, the preset station number increases, and the selected station is tuned in. 4 Selects the sound mode (C-EQ: custom equalizer). Each time you press the b utton, the sound mode (C-EQ) changes.
ENGLISH 6 Preparing the remote controller Before using the remote controller: • Aim the remote controller directly at the remote sensor on the main unit. Make sure there is no obstacle in between. • Do not expose the remote sensor to strong light (direct sunlight or ar tificial lighting).
7 ENGLISH BASIC OPERA TIONS T urning on the power 1 T urn on the power . Note on One-T ouch Operation: When you select a sour ce in step 2 below , the power automatically comes on. Y ou do not have to pr ess this button to turn on the power . 2 Select the source.
8 ENGLISH Canceling the display demonstration When shipped from the factory , display demonstration has been activ ated, and star ts automatically when no operations are done f or about 20 seconds. • It is recommended to cancel the displa y demonstration bef ore you use the unit f or the first time.
9 ENGLISH Setting the clock 1 Press and hold SEL (select) for more than 2 seconds so that one of the PSM items appears on the displa y . (PSM: see page 19.) 2 Set the hour . 1 Select “ CLOCK H ” (hour) if not sho wn on the display . 2 Adjust the hour .
10 ENGLISH RADIO OPERA TIONS Listening to the radio Y ou can use either automatic searching or manual searching to tune in to a par ticular station. Searching for a station automatically: Auto search 1 Select the band (FM 1 – 3, AM).
11 ENGLISH Storing stations in memory Y ou can use one of the f ollowing two methods to store broadcasting stations in memory . • Automatic preset of FM stations: SSM (Strong- station Sequential Mem.
12 ENGLISH Manual preset Y ou can preset up to 6 stations in each band (FM1, FM2, FM3, and AM) manually . Ex.: Storing FM station of 92.5 MHz into the preset number 1 of the FM1 band. 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM) you want to store FM stations into (in this example, FM1).
13 ENGLISH CD OPERA TIONS Playing a CD 1 Open the control panel. Note on One-T ouch Operation: When a CD is alr eady in the loading slot, pressing CD turns on the unit and starts playback automatically . 2 Insert a CD into the loading slot. The unit turns on, draws the CD and star ts playbac k automatically .
14 ENGLISH Selecting CD playback modes T o play back tracks at random (Disc Random Play) Y ou can pla y back all trac ks on the CD at random. 1 Press MODE to enter the functions mode while pla ying a CD . 2 Press RND (random), while “MODE” is still flashing on the displa y , so that “DISC RND” appears on the display .
15 ENGLISH Prohibiting CD ejection Y ou can prohibit CD ejection and can loc k a CD in the loading slot. While pressing CD , press and hold for more than 2 seconds. “ NO EJECT ” flashes on the display f or about 5 seconds, and the CD is loc ked and cannot be ejected.
16 ENGLISH SOUND ADJUSTMENTS Selecting preset sound modes (C-EQ: custom equalizer) Y ou can select a preset sound mode (C-EQ: custom equalizer) suitab le to the music genre.
17 ENGLISH 2 Adjust the setting. 3 Repeat steps 1 and 2 to adjust the other items. T o reset each sound mode to the factory settings, repeat the same procedure and reassign the preset values listed in the tab le on page 16.
18 ENGLISH OTHER MAIN FUNCTIONS Changing the general settings (PSM) Y ou can change the items listed in the tab le on page 19 by using the PSM (Pref erred Setting Mode) control. Basic Procedure 1 Press and hold SEL (select) for more than 2 seconds so that one of the PSM items appears on the displa y .
19 ENGLISH T o select the level meter—LEVEL Y ou can activ ate or deactivate the le vel meter according to your pref erence. When shipped from the factory , lev el meter is activated. • ON: Shows the audio lev el indicator . • OFF: Cancels the audio le vel indicator ; sound mode indicator is shown.
20 ENGLISH Detaching the control panel Y ou can detach the control panel when leaving the car . When detaching or attaching the control panel, be careful not to damage the connectors on the back of the control panel and on the panel holder . Detaching the control panel Before detaching the control panel, be sure to turn off the power .
21 ENGLISH TROUBLESHOOTING What appears to be trouble is not alw ays serious. Check the f ollowing points bef ore calling a ser vice center . Symptoms • Sound cannot be heard from the speakers . • The unit does not work at all. • SSM (Strong-station Sequential Memory) automatic preset does not work.
22 ENGLISH MAINTENANCE Handling discs This unit has been designed to reproduce CDs, CD-Rs (Recordable), and CD-R Ws (Rewritable). • This unit is not compatible with MP3 discs. How to handle discs When removing a disc from its case, press down the center holder of the case and lift the disc out, holding it by the edges.
