This is a basic summary based on both the menu settings and the actual buttons on the camer a. I’ve omitted certain information that I found either self - explanatory or irrelev ant to students. I’ve also kept away from advance video and audio settings.
First, hold the battery firmly in your hand making sure that the arrow is pointing left. Then slide the battery onto the holster in the camera making sure the metal parts engage, you should then hear a clicking sound. The On/Off switch is located on the right side of the camera.
Open the LCD screen, which is located on the left side of the camer a. Inside the LCD compartment you’ll find a series of buttons. Press the Menu but ton. The camera menu selections will then appear on the LCD scre en. NOTE : In certain Me nus, use the T, W controller to navigate back one page or the MENU button to exit the Menu page.
T urn the Audio Select switch to Manual a n d u s e t h e Audio Level knob to control each individual mic level. Connecting the microphone The camera’ s audio controls are located on the left side, at the tip of the handle. The XLR inputs are on the opposite side, under the microphone holder .
Setting the audio 1.Make sure the audio switch is set to MANUAL 2.Make sure that your AUDIO INPUT 1 and INPUT 2 a r e s e t t o Mic+48khz for on board micr ophone or your WIRED mics. 3.Make sure that your CH-2 INPUT i s set to INPUT 2 4.Ma ke su re t hat yo ur headphone levels a r e t u r n e d u p b y a d j u s t i n g t h e ADJ.
Insert the card into the slot, with the metallic censors going in first and the label facing up . Slightly push the card once with the tip of your finger until you hear a click. Push the card once more to disengage it from the slot and pull it out with the tip of your fingers.
Zooming and Focus There are three ways to zoom on the camera. F irst by using the rocker located on the right side above the hand strap . Push the T ( T elephoto) to zoom-in and W (Wide) to zoom-out. Second, flip the LCD open, then you will see the same corresponding ( T ,W) controls on the left of the LCD panel.
Adjusting the Iris To m a n u a l l y a d j u s t t h e I r i s , first press the Iris button w h i c h is located on the back of the camer a, right above the battery compartment. Once pressed, a numerical value will be highlighted on the upper left side of the LCD scre en .
User shortcuts There are three user short cuts that can be assigned for sever al functions in the camer a. User 1 a n d User 2 are located on the left side of the camera, right abov e the Focus/Z oom sw i t ch . User 3 is located inside the LCD compartme nt , right next to the CAM/MEDIA button.
Reviewing the clips Push the CAM/MEDIA button, which is located in the LCD compartment. A n e w Menu s c r e e n will come up, displaying thumbnails of clips shot. Y ou can na vigate through the menu by using the (T,W) controller on the LCD panel. Press the center of the controller to select and view a clip.
Formatting SDHC cards There are three w ays to Format the SDHC cards. First, in Camera mode, press the Menu button, then choose Media S ettings . Once selected, you will see the F ormat setting. Press it, then you will have the choice of formatting Slot A or B.
Exporting Files There are three ways of exporting your media onto your computer . First, by inserting your SDHC card into your MacBook Pro’ s SD card slot, second connecting the camera dir ectly onto a computer using a USB c able or through an external SDHC Card R eader .
Then, y ou will need to choose the corresponding HD signal/resolution that your footage was shot in. Please select: XDCAM EX 1080/60i VBR or 1080p/30 VBR from the drop down menu.

Step 4 In SOUND SET TINGS select AAC. K eep the sound channels at Stereo and change the RA TE to 44.100khz. , all the other settings remain the same. After all your settings are selected,Export and Sa ve your file in your EXPOR TS folder in your main pr oject folder .
