4 BASIC OPERA TIONS T urning on the power 1 T urn on the power . Note on One-T ouch Operation: When you select a sour ce in step 2 below , the power automatically comes on. Y ou do not have to pr ess this button to turn on the power . 2 Select the sour ce .

6 T o stop sear ching before a station is received, press the same button you ha ve pressed f or searching. Searching for a station manually: Manual search 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM). Note: This r eceiver has three FM bands (FM1, FM2, FM3). Y ou can use any one of them to listen to an FM br oadcast.
7 T o tune in to stations of higher frequencies T o tune in to stations of lower frequencies MO (monaural) indicator 3 T une in to a station you want while “M” (manual) is still flashing. • If you release y our finger from the button, the manual mode will automatically turns off after 5 seconds.
8 Notes: • A pr eviously pr eset station is erased when a new station is stor ed in the same preset number . • Pr eset stations are erased when the power supply to the memory cir cuit is interrupted (for example, during battery r eplacement). If this occurs, preset the stations again.
9 T o stop play and eject the cassette Press 0 . T ape pla y stops, the cassette automatically ejects from the cassette compar tment. The source changes to the pre viously selected one. • Y ou cannot change the source if the cassette is still in the cassette compar tment.
10 SOUND ADJUSTMENTS Adjusting the sound Y ou can adjust the sound char acteristics to your preference . 1 Select the item you want to adjust. Each time you press the button, the adjustab le items change as follo ws: Indication T o do: Range BAS Adjust the bass.
11 Selecting preset sound modes Y ou can select a preset sound adjustment suitable to the m usic genre. Select the sound mode y ou want. Each time you press the b utton, the sound mode changes as follo ws: Indication For: Preset values BAS TRE S.
12 DET ACHING THE C0NTROL P ANEL Y ou can detach the control panel when leaving the car . When detaching or attaching the control panel, be careful not to damage the connectors on the back of the control panel and on the panel holder . Detaching the control panel Before detaching the control panel, be sure to turn off the power .
13 CD CHANGER OPERA TIONS We recommend that y ou use one of the CH-X series with your unit (e xcept for JVC MP3- compatible CD changer). If you ha ve another CD changer , consult your JVC car audio dealer for connections . • F or example, if your CD chang er is one of the KD-MK series, you need a cor d (KS-U15K) for connecting it to this unit.
14 T o go to a particular disc directly Press the number b utton corresponding to the disc number to start its playback (while the CD changer is playing). • T o select a disc number from 1 – 6: Press 1 (7) – 6 (12) briefly . • T o select a disc number from 7 – 12: Press and hold 1 (7) – 6 (12) for more than one second.
15 TROUBLESHOOTING What appears to be trouble is not alw ays serious. Chec k the following points bef ore calling a service center . Remedies Adjust it to the optimum le vel. Check the cords and connections. While holding SEL, press for more than 2 seconds to reset the unit.
16 MAINTENANCE This unit requires very little attention, but y ou will be able to e xtend the life of the unit if y ou follo w the instructions below . T o clean the head • Clean the heads after e very 10 hours of use using a wet-type head cleaning tape (a vailable at an audio store).
