2 ENGLISH (Standby/On/Attenuator) How to reset your unit Press and hold both the SEL (Select) and (Standby/On/Attenuator) buttons at the same time for several seconds. This will reset the built-in microcomputer . NOTE: Y our pr eset adjustments — such as pr eset channels or sound adjustments — will also be erased.

6 ENGLISH RADIO OPERA TIONS Listening to the radio Y ou can use either automatic searching or manual searching to tune in to a particular station. Searching a station automatically: Auto search 1 Select the band (FM 1 – 3, AM). Note: This r eceiver has thr ee FM bands (FM1, FM2, FM3).
7 ENGLISH 3 T une in to a station you want while “ M ” is flashing. • If you release your finger from the b utton, the manual mode will automatically turn off after 5 seconds. • If you hold down the b utton, the frequency keeps changing (in 50 kHz intervals for FM and 9 kHz intervals for AM) until y ou release the button.
8 ENGLISH MO RPT RND 7 8 9 10 11 12 Manual preset Y ou can preset up to 6 stations in each band (FM1, FM2, FM3 and AM) manually . Ex: Storing an FM station of 88.3 MHz into the preset number 1 of the FM1 band. 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM) y ou want to store FM stations into (in this example, FM1).
9 ENGLISH Playing a CD 1 Insert a disc into the loading slot. The unit turns on, draws a CD and starts playbac k automatically . Note: When a CD is inserted upside down, the CD automatically ejects. Note on One-T ouch Operation: When a CD is alr eady in the loading slot, pr essing CD turns on the unit and starts playback automatically .
10 ENGLISH Locating a track or a particular portion on a CD T o fast-forward or reverse the track T o go to the next tracks or the previous tracks T o go to a particular track directly Press the number button corresponding to the track number to start its playback.
11 ENGLISH Prohibiting CD ejection Y ou can prohibit the CD ejection and can loc k a CD in the loading slot. Press and hold CD and 0 for more than 2 seconds. “ EJECT ” flashes on the display for about 5 seconds, and the CD is locked and cannot be ejected.
12 ENGLISH SOUND ADJUSTMENTS Adjusting the sound Y ou can adjust the sound characteristics to your preference. 1 Select the item you want to adjust. Each time you press the button, the adjustable items change as follows: Indication T o do: Range BAS Adjust the bass.
13 ENGLISH Recalling the sound modes When “SCM LINK” is set to “LINK ON, ” select the source. Each time you change the playback source, the SCM indicator flashes on the display . The sound mode stored in memory for the selected source is recalled.
14 ENGLISH Storing your own sound adjustment Y ou can adjust the sound modes (BEA T , SOFT , POP: see page 13) to your preference and store your o wn adjustments in memor y . • There is a time limit in doing the f ollowing procedure. If the setting is cancelled before you finish, start from step 1 again.
15 ENGLISH OTHER MAIN FUNCTIONS Setting the clock 1 Press and hold SEL (Select) for more than 2 seconds. “CLOCK H”, “CLOCK M”, “SCM LINK” or “LEVEL ” appears on the displa y . 2 Set the hour . 1 Select “CLOCK H” if not shown on the display .

17 ENGLISH Note on cleaning the connectors: If you fr equently detach the contr ol panel, the connectors will deteriorate. T o minimize this possibility , periodically wipe the connectors with a cotton swab or cloth moistened with alcohol, being car eful not to damage the connectors.
18 ENGLISH MAINTENANCE Handling CDs This unit has been designed to reproduce CDs and CD-Rs. • Other discs cannot be played bac k. This unit is not compatible with MP3. How to handle CDs When removing a CD fr om its case, press down the center holder of the case and lift the CD out, holding it by the edges .
19 ENGLISH TROUBLESHOOTING What appears to be trouble is not always serious. Check the following points before calling a service center . Symptoms • CD cannot be played bac k. • CD sound is sometimes interrupted. • “NO DISC” appears on the display .
