2 ENGLISH (standby/on/atten uator) How to reset your unit While holding SEL (select), press (standby/ on/attenuator) f or more than 2 seconds. This will reset the built-in microcomputer . NOTE: Y our pr eset adjustments — such as pr eset channels or sound adjustments — will also be erased.

5 ENGLISH BASIC OPERA TIONS 3 Adjust the v olume . 4 Adjust the sound as y ou want. (See pages 12 – 14.) T o drop the volume in a moment Press briefly while listening to any source. “A TT” starts flashing on the display , and the volume le vel will drop in a moment.
6 ENGLISH Listening to the radio Y ou can use either automatic searching or man ual searching to tune in to a par ticular station. Searching a station automatically: Auto search 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM). Note: This r eceiver has three FM bands (FM1, FM2, FM3).
7 ENGLISH Storing stations in memory Y ou can use one of the f ollowing two methods to store broadcasting stations in memory . • A utomatic preset of FM stations: SSM (Strong- station Sequential Mem.
8 ENGLISH Manual preset Y ou can preset up to 6 stations in each band (FM1, FM2, FM3 and AM) manually . Ex.: Storing an FM station of 88.3 MHz into the preset number 1 of the FM1 band 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM) you want to store stations into (in this example, FM1).
9 ENGLISH T APE OPERA TIONS T o fast-for ward or rewind a tape T o stop fast f orward or re wind at any position on the tape, press T APE 23 . T ape pla y star ts from that position on the tape. Note: When the tape r eaches its end while fast-forwarding, the tape dir ection will be changed automatically.
10 ENGLISH Finding the beginning of a tune Multi Music Scan allows y ou to automatically star t playbac k from the beginning of a specified tune. Y ou can specify up to 9 tunes ahead of or bef ore the current tune. During playbac k Specify how man y tunes ahead of or before the current tune the one y ou want is located.
11 ENGLISH Playing the current tune repeatedly Y ou can pla y the current tune repeatedly (Repeat Pla y). 1 Press MODE to enter the functions mode while pla ying a tune you w ant to hear over again on a cassette.
12 ENGLISH Adjusting the sound Y ou can adjust the sound char acteristics to your preference . 1 Select the item you want to adjust. Each time you press the button, the adjustab le items change as f ollows: 2 Adjust the level. Note: Normally , the +/– buttons work as the volume control.
13 ENGLISH Selecting preset sound modes Y ou can select a preset sound adjustment suitab le to the music genre. Each time you press SCM, the sound mode changes as f ollows. Note: • Y ou can adjust the preset sound mode to your pr eference, and stor e it in memory .
14 ENGLISH 4 Repeat steps 2 and 3 to adjust the other items. 5 T o turn on or off the loudness function. • See page 13 for details . 6 Press and hold SCM until the sound mode you ha ve selected in step 1 flashes on the display . 7 Repeat the same procedure to store other sound modes.
15 ENGLISH OTHER MAIN FUNCTIONS Setting the clock 1 Press and hold SEL (select) for more than 2 seconds. “CLOCK H”, “CLOCK M”, “LEVEL ”, “B. SKIP”, or “EXT IN*” appears on the display . * Display ed only when one of the follo wing sources is selected — FM, AM and T ape.
16 ENGLISH AUDIO2 AUDIO1 OFF 3 Select the desired mode—“A UDIO 1, ” “A UDIO 2” or “OFF . ” 4 Finish the setting. Selecting the level display —LEVEL Y ou can select the lev el display according to your preference . When shipped from the f actory , “A UDIO2” is selected.
17 ENGLISH Selecting the external component to use — EXT IN Y ou can connect the external component to the CD changer jack on the rear using the Line Input Adaptor KS-U57 (not supplied). T o use the external component as the playback source through this unit, you need to select which component – CD changer or e xternal component – to use.
18 ENGLISH Detaching the control panel Y ou can detach the control panel when leaving the car . When detaching or attaching the control panel, be careful not to damage the connectors on the back of the control panel and on the panel holder . Detaching the control panel Before detaching the control panel, be sure to turn off the power .
19 ENGLISH MP3 CD CHANGER OPERA TIONS We recommend that y ou use the JVC MP3- compatible CD changer with y our unit. By using this CD changer , you can pla y back your original CD-R (Recordable) and CD-R Ws (Rewritable) recorded either in audio CD f or mat or in MP3 format.
20 ENGLISH MP3 • When the current disc is a CD: Pla yback starts from the first track of the current disc. Notes: • When you pr ess CD-CH, the power automatically comes on. Y ou do not have to press to turn on the power . • If you change the sour ce, CD changer play also stops.
21 ENGLISH MP3 Selecting the playback modes T o play back tracks/files at random (Disc Random/Magazine Random Play) 1 Press MODE to enter the functions mode during play . 2 Press RND (random), while still in the functions mode, so that “ DISC RND ” or “ MAG RND ” appears on the display .

ENGLISH 23 Bef ore using the remote controller : • Aim the remote controller directly at the remote sensor on the main unit. Make sure there is no obstacle in between. • Do not expose the remote sensor to strong light (direct sunlight or ar tificial lighting).
