This manual c ontains i ns t ructi ons on instal lation, safety precaut i ons, general operati ng proc edures, mai ntenance i nstructi ons and parts breakdo wn.

9 A ssem bly Tool s re q uired for assemb l y: Hoist , f orklift , or one or m ore ass i stant s W renches – 9/ 32”, 1/ 2” , 9/ 16” Hex wrenches – 4mm, 1/8” I nstall Stan d Legs Th e sander is heavy; u se ca utio n whe n lif t i n g. 1. Rai s e t he sander f ro m the f loor usi ng a fork lift, h ois t or an ass ista nt.
10 2. Re- ti ghten the set scre w w ith your fingers until i t only lightl y touches the col u m n tube. 3. Hold t he set scre w i n posit ion with t he hex wrench, and re- t ight en t he he x nut . I nstall Han dwheel Mount t he handw heel to t he top of t he height adjust m ent screw (F i gure 6).
11 6. Posit ion t he table ( H , F i gure 9) ov er t he brack ets, and install f our 1/4”x3/ 4” s quare neck bol ts (J), 1 / 4” f lat w asher s ( K ) , and 1/4” hex nut s (L). Do not fully tight en ye t. 7. The t able should be po s i ti oned e v en wit h or sli ghtly bel ow t he con v eyor belt surf ace.

13 8. You can u s e y our fi ngers to work t he infeed take- up f astener, but it w il l be more conv enient t o us e t he TUF T ool suppl ied with y our sander. Hol d the T UFT ool wit h the red end poi nti ng away f ro m you (Fi gure 15) and insert it s hook into t he outside h ole of the f ast ener l e v er (see Fi gur e 17) .
14 Grounding Instructions Elect rical co nnection s must be mad e by a qu alified el ectrician i n comp liance wit h all relevan t codes. Th is machi ne must be p r o perly ground ed to help preven t electri cal sho ck and po ssible fat al injur y.
15 Ext ensi on Co rds If an ex tension cor d i s necessary, m ake sure the cord r ating i s s uit able f or the a m per age listed on the m achine's m otor plat e . An undersize cor d w ill ca us e a dr op in l ine vo lt age resul t i ng in loss of power and ov erheati ng.
16 • The set screws in the t able suppor ts hav e been loosened and readj usted ( see page 9). • The sander has been l e v eled (page 11) . • Movi ng parts of t he height adjustment m echan i sm ar e w el l lubri cated, i nc l uding mi ter gears, c olumns, and t hreaded adjust i ng screws.
17 6. If one hei ght adj us tm ent screw is loose, rem o v e the m iter gear f ro m the t rans f er rod on that s i de. Turn down the t hreaded height adjust ment s cr ew rod unt il it is snug. Make sure bot h sides are snug on top and retai ning ri ngs under the adj us t ment s c rew support s ar e i n place.
18 3. I nsert the gau ge bet w ee n the drum and conv eyor bed at one end of t he dru m (F igure 26). Ra i se the conv eyor bed whil e slowly r otati ng dr u m by hand until the drum li ghtly cont acts the t h i ckness gauge. 4. Mo v e t h i ckness gauge to the opposit e end of t he dru m .

20 Adj us t ing t he take-up scre w nut s on ei ther side of t he con v eyor allows bel t t racking adj us tm ents to be made wi t hout affecti ng be l t tension. NOT E : Adjust t ake-up scre w nut s onl y 1/4 t urn at a t im e. Then all ow tim e f or t he belt t o react to the adj ust m ents bef ore proceedi ng f urther.
21 Step 2: Now r epeat St ep 1 on t he right ( i nboar d) side of convey or. Compare t he m easurem ents from s i de to side. If they are not equal, loosen one of the brac kets that hol d the r oller i n p l ace.
22 I f th e c on v e yo r tab le is st ill d if ficu lt to ra is e o r lower, the tabl e s upport s m ay need to be r e- center ed on the col u m ns . To do thi s , loosen the f our 3/8”x1” hex he.
23 4. Af ter the m achi ne has run f or about 30 mi nutes, stop to check that t he s et s c rews and beari ng bolt s are still t ight. NOT E : I t may be necess ary t o re-ali gn the tensi on roll ers after r otating t he dru m beari ngs. See page 18.
