1 MPC-XU Universal Crossover For JBL MPC and MP A amplifiers Owner’ s Manual and Installation Guide I. Description T he MPC-XU is a dual-c hannel univ ersal crosso ver filter accessory for use with JBL MPC and MP A po wer amplifiers .

4 Programming the low -pass filter Bypass/ena ble header T o use the low-pass filter , set the jumper on Jx01 across pins 2 and 3, whic h ar e the lo wer two pins on their header . But if y ou do not wish to use the low-pass filter and w ant to bypass it instead, set the jumper across pins 1 and 2.

T ypical configurations Subsonic Filter (Infrasonic Fi lter) Appli cations: Subsonic filters are commonl y used in sound installations to filter out r umbles and other inaudible or unwanted lo w frequenc y signals and to protect speak er tuned vented speakers fr om damag e due to ex cessiv e energ y belo w the tuning frequency .
6 Ultrasonic Filter Applications: An ultrasonic filter is useful f or minimizing RF interference, oscilla tions, leakag e or aliasing fr om digital de vices , or other signals that are too high in pitc h to hear but may wreak hav oc in an amplifier system.
7 MPC-XU 2- W a y A c tive Cr os s ove r T his configuration routes the frequencies belo w a particular frequency to amplifier Channel 1, which will dri v er the low-frequency speak er(s), and the frequencies abov e to Channel 2, whic h will driv e the high-frequency speaker(s).
8 Appendix Identifying resistor networks Use this chart to identify the v alues of the resistor netw or ks . See the tables on pag e 4 to find the correct values f or the desired filter frequencies . Use only these three digits to determine resistance code.
