6 Location In selecting the location, the aesthetic and func- tional use of the appliance are primary concerns. However , proper venting systems and access to the fuel supply are also important issues. Due to the high surface tempera tures , y ou must also consider the pro ximity of traf fic areas , furniture, draperies , etc.

8 V ent Restric tion The GF 600 DV F irelight includes two rectangular E xhaust Restrictor plates and one square Air Inlet Restrictor Plate as shown in Figur e 5.

Co-linear Hearthmount Installation The GF 600 D V Firelight can be installed using a Hearthmount Co-linear Flexible V ent System, designed f or installation into a solid fuel burning masonry fireplace.
10 Simpson Dura - V ent Chimne y Co nversion Kit The GF 600 DV F irelight is approved f or use with Simpson Dur a-ven t Chimney Kits as shown in Figure 8. These installation require- ments must be followed: In masonry chimney a fire-clay liner must be present the enti re length of the chimne y .
11 ANY VENTING WIT H A VERTIC AL R ISE MUST TERMI- NA TE (END) WI TH IN T HE SHADED AR EA. R estrictors required on: • All Co-linear (flex pipe) • All coaxial (rigid pipe) venting higher than 7 feet. • Both restrictors must be used when restriction is required.
12 C L Horizontal T ermination The horizontal termination cap must maintain a 3” clearance to any overhead c ombustible projections that are 2 1/2” or less. It must also maintain a 12” clearance from projections that exceed 2 1/2” . See Figure 9.

16 17. Replace the v ariable regulator . Using a T orx T -20 screwdriv er , remo ve the thr ee specialty screw s from the HI/LO r egula tor on the fron t of the valv e. Note: T o help identify which screw s to remo ve, ref er to the new regula tor in the kit.
17 Leak test: 1. Mix a 50-50 solution of wa ter and dish soap. 2. Light appliance- see lighting instructions on page 22 of this manual or on the stove’ s rating pla te. 3. Brush or spra y all joints and connections with the soapy wa ter solution. 4.
18 High Altitude Adjustment When installing the GF 600 DV Fir elight gas stove in high altitude situations ( above 2500') it becomes necessary to compensate f or the thinner air (less volume of o xygen per cubic f oot). High altitudes af fect the atmospheric pressu re and heat value of gaseous fuels.
19 Air Shutter Adjustment / Flame Appear ance The GF 600 D V FIR ELIGHT gas stove is shipped from the fa ctory equipped as a NA TURAL GAS S T OVE. If the stove is con v erted for propane, it will be neces- sary to adjust the air shutter on the burner tube to achieve the proper gas to air mixture.
20 Install the Log Set The four -piece log set is packaged in bubble wr ap inside the firebo x. Do not handle the log set with your bare hands. Alway s wear glov es to prev ent skin irrita- tion from the ceramic fibers. 1. Remov e the Grille and T op Plate from the stov e.
21 Optional C ontrols W all Thermostat Use only a 750 millivolt DC two-wire circuit ther- mostat, placed in the same room as the heater , typically 5’ off the floor . Avoid dra fty ar eas or any are a that may af f ect the accuracy of the thermo- stat .
22 3. BURN ER AD JUST MEN T : The Jøtul GF 600 DV Fir elight gas stove is equipped with a variable gas con trol valve that provides easy adjustment of the flame height, appearance, and heat output . T o adjust the flame between the H I and LO W setting , r otate the H I/LO W knob, located in the center of the valv e face.
23 C onnect the W iring Harness 1. Locate the switch brack et on the back of the stov e, below the burner con trol switch. 2. R emove the f our 1/4” hex head screws that secure the switch br acket to the lef t rear shroud. Ca refully pull the switch br acket awa y from the sto ve.
24 Maintenance The GF 600 D V Firelight gas stove and its v enting system should be inspected bef ore use and at least annually by a qualified service technician. IMPORT ANT: ALWA YS TURN OFF THE GAS SUPPL Y T O THE ST O VE BEFORE ANY SERVICE WORK IS PERFORMED ON THE ST O VE.

27 7. Push in gas control knob slightly and turn counter- clockwise to “PILOT”. 8. Push in control knob all the way and hold in. Immediately light the pilot by triggering the spark ignitor (push the red button repeatedly) until pilot lights. Continue to hold the control knob in for about one minute after the pilot light s.
