When installed in the chassis, the shield blocks radio frequency t ransmissions, protects internal components from dust and foreign objects, and promotes corre ct airflow within the chassis.

Installing a Processor CAUTION Before installing or removing a pro cessor, make sure the AC po wer has been removed by unplugging the power cord from the computer.

For instructions on how to attach the processor fan heat sink to the Desktop Board, refer to the boxed processor manual or thermal solution manual .

Installing and Replacing Desktop Board Components 39 Connecting to a Power Supply The board can use the fo llowing power supplies: • External Power Supply – the board can be p owere d with a 19 VDC external power supply though the 19 VDC connector ( Figure 18, A) on the back panel.

However, the Desktop Board al so provides an i nternal 1 x 2 power connector that can use d be with a target system that already has an internal power supply.
Installing and Replacing Desktop Board Components 41 Setting the BIOS Configuration Jumper NOTE Always turn off the power and unplug the power cord from the computer before moving the jumper. Moving the jumper wi th the power on may result in unreliable computer operation.

49 3 Updating the BIOS The BIOS Setup program can be used to vi ew and change the BIOS settings for the computer. You can ac cess the BIOS Setup pr ogram by pressi ng the F2 key after the Power-On Self-Test (PO ST) memory test begi ns and before the op erating system boot begins.

BIO) file to a temporary di rectory. 2. Copy the .BIO fil e to a USB thumb drive. 3. Plug the thumb drive into a USB port of the target computer.
