5 Intr oduction Y our new digital projec tor pr ovides co mputer and v ideo inputs and has XGA 1024x768 re solution. The projecto r is easy to connect, easy to use, and easy to main tain. An Inter active Display on the top of the projector g ives you constant feedb ack on the status of the pr ojector .
6 Connec tor P anel The pr ojector provid es computer a nd video con nectors: • one M1-D/ A (HD, DVI, and computer) • one VES A (HD, HD c omponent, a nd comput er) • one S-vi deo • one com posite RCA vide o • one a udio in/o ne audio ou t It al so has an RS-232 serial con nector for serial c ontr ol.
7 Connecting a computer Required compute r connections Connect the black end of the computer cable to the Com puter 1 connector on the pr ojector . Connect the blue end to the video port on your computer . If you are using a desk top computer , you first need to disconnect the monitor cable fr om the computer ’s v ideo port.
8 If you are using a desk top computer and want to see t he image on your computer screen as well as on the proj ection scr een, plug the mon itor cable to the bl ack Computer 2 conne ctor on the projector . This connector can be used as monitor out or VESA in.
9 Displa ying a computer image Remove the lens cap. Pr ess the Po w e r button on the to p of the projector o r the remote. The LED fla shes gr een and the fans start to run. When the lamp comes on, the sta rtup scr een is displayed an d the LED is steady gr een.
10 First-time pr ojector use with Windo ws 98 If you are running W indows 2000, W indows ME, or W indow XP , skip these steps an d go to “Adjust ing the im age” on page 12.

12 Adjusting the imag e Adjust the height of the pr ojector , if n ecessary , by pressing the r elease but - ton to extend the elevator foot. Rotate th e level ing foot (locate d at the bo ttom ba ck righ t corner ), if nece s- sary . Position the proj ector the desir ed distance fr om the screen, so that the lens is perpendicul ar to the screen.

14 Displa ying a video ima g e Remove the lens cap. Press t he Po w e r button on th e top of the pro jecto r or the r emo te. The LED flash es gre en and the fans start to r un. When the lamp comes on, the star tup scr een is displayed a nd the LE D is ste ady gr een.
15 Adjust the zoom or focus rin gs by rotating t hem until the desired image size and fo cus are produc ed. If the image is not squar e, adj ust the vert ical keystone usi ng the b uttons on the keypad.
16 Shutting do wn the pr ojector The projector automati cally bl anks the screen afte r no active source is detected for 3 0 minutes. This blank scr een helps pr eserve the life of the pro- jector . The imag e returns when an active sour ce is detected or a remot e or keypad bu tton is pr essed.

26 Using the remote contr ol The remote uses tw o (2) provided AA batter ies. They are ea sily installed by sliding t he cover off t he rem ote’s ba ck, alig ning the + and - e nds of the bat- teries, s liding them into place, and then repla cing th e cover .
27 Using the LiteP ort pla y er LitePor t allows you to di splay any JPEG image a utomati cally , without a computer connected. Us e your own JPEGs from your digital camera, or con- vert y our files, such as Pow erPoint or W ord files , into JP EGs using L itePort Utility s oftwar e (inclu ded on th e CD).
28 Using the audio T o play sound f rom the projecto r , connec t your so urce to the Audio In con- nector on the pr ojector . T o adjust the volume, us e the buttons on the keypad or remote. T o adjust the balance or turn of f the pr ojector ’s chime, use the Au dio menu (see page 34) .
29 Optimizing computer images After your comput er is connected pr operly a nd the computer ’s image is on the scre en, you can opt imize the image using the onscr een menus. For gen- eral info rmation on using the menus, see page 30 . • Adjus t the Ke ysto ne, Co ntra st, or Bri ghtne ss in the Pict ure menu.
30 Using the menus T o open the menus, press th e Me nu button on the key pad or remote. (The menus a utomatically close afte r 60 second s if no butt ons ar e pre ssed.) The Main menu appears. Use the arrow buttons to move up and down to high - light t he desir ed subme nu, then pr ess th e Select but ton.

32 Presets : The pr ovide d Presets opt imize the pr ojector for display ing com- puter pr esentations, ph otographs, a nd film images. Y ou can use the pr eset as a sta rting point, then further customize the s ettings f or each sour ce. T o rest ore the factory default settings, choose Factory Reset in the Set- tings>S er vice menu.
33 Advanced settings Sharpness : (video sources only) cha nges the clari ty of the edge s of a vide o image. Select a s harpness s ettin g. Color S pace : This option applies to computer sources. It allows you to select a color spa ce that has been spec ifically t uned for th e video input.

39 Maintenance Cleaning the lens 1 Apply a non-ab rasive c amera lens clea ner to a soft, dry c loth. A void using an excessive a mount of c leaner , an d don’t a pply the cleaner direc tly to the lens. A brasive c leaners, solvents or other h arsh chemic als might sc ratch the len s.
40 Replacing the projection lamp The lamp hour timer in the About menu counts the number of hours the lamp has been in use. Fifty h ours before the specified end of the lamp’s life, the message “ Replace lamp” bri efly appears on the screen at each star tup and in the Inte ractive Di splay .
41 • Be extr emely careful whe n removing the lamp housi ng. In the unlikely event that the lamp rupt ures, sma ll glass frag ments may be g enerated. The lamp module is d esigned to contain m ost of these fr agments , but use caution when removing it.
42 Cleaning the lamp filter screens In dirty or dusty envi ronments, the dust fil ter screens on the lamp module and lamp door an d in the l amp compa rtment can become clogged, causing high tempe ratures i nside the lamp mod ule. These hig h temperatur es can impact l amp performanc e and oper ating life.
