5 P ositioning the pr ojector Ther e ar e a number a factors to consider when determinin g wher e to se t up the proj ector , including the size and shape of y our scr een, the location of your power outlets, and t he distance b etween the pr oj ector and the re st of your equipment.
6 Video connections Y ou can connect VCRs, DVD players, ca mcorders, digital camera s, video ga m e s , H D T V r e c e i v e r s , a n d T V t u n e r s t o t h e p r o j e c t o r.
7 Connecting a video de vice If you r video devi ce has mor e than on e output, select th e high est quality one. DVI vide o has the best qua lity , followed by Componen t vi deo, S-vide o, and then compos ite video.
8 Displaying a video image Remove the lens cap. Pr ess the Po w e r butto n on the to p of the projector . The proje ctor chimes if the chime feature is enabled (page 28). The LED flashes gr een and the fans start to run. When the lamp comes on, t he startup scr een dis plays and the LE D is ste ady gr een.
9 Adjust the zoom or focus rin gs by ro tating them until the desir ed image si ze and sharpness ar e produ ced. If the image is not sq uare, a djust th e keystone us ing the b uttons on the key- pad.
10 Connecting a computer Connect either a VESA cable or M1 cable into th e appr opriate conne ctor on the proj ector . Connect the ot her end t o the video port on yo ur computer . If you are using a desktop computer , you first need to dis connect the monitor cable fr om the computer ’s video port .

19 Using the remote contr ol The r emote uses tw o (2) pr ovided AAA batteries . They ar e easily install ed by slidi ng th e cover of f the remote ’s bac k, ali gning the + an d - ends of the batteries , slidin g them into plac e, and th en r eplacin g the cover .
20 Optimizi ng video im ag es After the video device is con nected pr operly and the image is on t he scr een, you can optimize the image using the onscreen menus. For general informa- tion on using the men us, see pa ge 21. • Chang e the Aspe ct rati o.

26 Color S pace : This o ption appli es to co mputer an d HDTV sources ( it won’ t appear in t he men u for video sour ces) . It allows you t o sele ct a c olor s pace that ha s been spec ifically tuned for the vide o input. W hen A uto is sel ected, the pr ojecto r autom atically determ ines the standar d.
27 Settings menu Sources : allows you to a ssign a partic ular in put to a sp ecific sou rc e key on the remote an d enabl es or d isable s Autosou rce. When Auto source is not checked, th e projec tor defa ults to the last-u sed sour ce. If no sour ce is found, a blank s creen displays.

30 Replacing the projection lamp The lamp hour timer in the About menu counts the number of hours the lamp has been i n use. After 1 980 hours , the message “Ch ange lamp” brief ly appears on the sc ree n at each startu p. T o maintain optimal vi deo perfor- mance, we recommend changing the lamp after 2000 hours, depending on usage.
