English- 8 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS • Disengage blades when not mowing. Shut off engine and wait for all part s to come to a complete st op before cleaning the machine, removin g the grass catcher , or unc logging the discharge guard. • Operate machine only in daylight or good artificial light.
English- 9 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Personal Safety Equipment • Make sure that you have first aid equipment close at hand when using the machine. • Never use the machine when ba refoot. Always wear protecti ve shoes or boots, preferably with steel toecaps.

English- 16 CONTROLS Controls This operator ’s manual describes the Husqvarna Zero T urn Rider . The rider is fitted with a Briggs and S tratton four-stroke engine developing 22-2 4 horse power . T ransmission from the engine is made via two belt-driven hydrostat transaxles, one for each drive wheel.
English- 17 CONTROLS 1. Motion Control Levers The machine’s speed and dir ection are continuously variable using the two steering controls. The steering controls can be moved forward or backward about a neutral position. Furthermore, there is a neutral position, which is locked if the steering controls are moved outward.
English- 18 CONTROLS 2. Seat adjustment knobs The seat can be adju sted lengthways. When making adjustments, loos en the four knobs under the seat pan, af ter which the seat can be moved backward or forward. Do not forget to tighten the knobs. 3. Fuses The fuses are located in the right front corner of the engine compartment.
English- 19 CONTROLS 4. By p ass linkages When pushing or pulling the mo wer , be sure to engage the IZT (I ntegraded Zeroturn T ransaxle) bypass linkages. The IZT byp ass linkages are locate d on the rear of the frame, below the rear engine gu ard. • Raise the deck into the highest cutting position.
English- 20 CONTROLS 5. Refueling The machine has one fuel t ank, just behind the seat. The tank capacity is 3 gallons (1 1.4 liters) . The engine will run on a minimum of 85-octane unleaded gasoline (no oil mix). Environmentally adap ted alkylate gasoline can be used.
English- 21 CONTROLS 7. Ignition Switch The ignition key is placed on the driver ’s panel and i s used to start and stop the engine. 8. Choke Control The choke mode is use d for cold starts in order to provide the engine with a richer fuel mixture. The Throttle co ntrol is equipped with a ch oke detent.
English- 22 CONTROLS 10. Hour Meter The hour meter displa ys the total operating time. It will flash CHG OIL (Change Oil) at 50 hour intervals. The flash du ration is one hour before and one hour af ter the interval. The CHG OIL icon will come on and shut off automatically .
English- 23 CONTROLS 12. Cutting height pedal The deck cutting heig ht is obtained by pressing the foot peda l forward to lift the deck. T o lower the deck, you apply pressure to the top side of the fo ot pedal and allow it to pivot while allowing the lif t arm to rotate to the rear of the unit.
English- 24 OPERATION Operation Read "Safety Instructions" section and following pages, if you are unfamiliar with the machine. T raining Zero turn mowers ar e far more manuevera ble than typical riding mowers due to their un ique steering capabilities.
English- 25 OPERATION Before S t arting • Read the sections Safety Instructions and Contro ls before starting the machine. • Perform the daily maintenance before starting (see Maintenance Schedule in the Maintenance section). • Check that there is sufficient fuel in the fuel tank.
English- 26 OPERATION 4. Disengage the mowe r blades by depressing the blade switch. 5. Move the steering controls outward to the locked (outer) neutral position. 6. Move the throttle to the middle position. 7. If the engine is cold, the throttle control should be pushed forward to its choke position.
English- 27 OPERATION 8. Press in and turn the ignition key to the start position. 9. When the engine start s, immediately release the ignition key back to the run position. 10. Set the desired engine speed with the throttle. Allow the engine to run at a moderate speed, ”half throttle”, for 3-5 minutes before loading it too heavily .
English- 28 OPERATION T o start an engine with a weak battery If your battery is too weak to start the engine, it should be recharged. (See "Battery" in the Maintenance Section.
English- 29 OPERATION Running 1. Release the p arking bra ke by moving the lever downward. Y our mower is equipped with an operator presence system. W hen the engine is running, any at tempt by the oper ator to leave the seat without first setting the parking brake will shut of f the engine.
English- 30 OPERATION T urning on th e spot can be achieved by moving one control ba ckward (beh ind the neutral position) and carefully moving the other steering cont rol forward from its neutral position. Operating on hills Read the Safety Instructions "D riving on Slopes" in the "Safety Instructions".
English- 31 OPERATION Mowing Tip s • Observe and flag rocks and other fixed objects to avoid collisions. • Begin with a high cutting height and reduce it until the desired mowing result is attained. The average lawn should be cut to 2 1/2" (64 mm) during the cool season and over 3" (76 mm) during th e hot months.
English- 32 OPERATION Stopping the Engine Allow the engine to idle a minute in order to attain normal operating temperature before stopping it, if it has b een worked hard. Avoid idling the engine fo r longer period s, as there is a risk of the spark plugs fouling.

English- 34 MAINTENANCE Maintenance Maintenance Schedule The following is a list of maintenance procedures that must be performed on the ma chine. For those points not described in this manual, visit an authorized service workshop.
English- 35 MAINTENANCE 1) First change after 5-8 hours. When operating with a heavy load or at high ambient temperatures, repla ce every 50 hours. 2) In dusty conditions, cleaning and replacement are requir ed more often. 3) For da ily use, the machine should be lubricated twice weekly .
English- 36 MAINTENANCE Battery Y our mower is equipped with a maintenance free battery and does not ne ed servicing. However , periodic charging of the battery with an automotive type battery charger will extend it s life. • Keep battery and terminals clean.
English- 37 MAINTENANCE Ignition System The engine is equipped with an el ectronic ignition system. Only the spark plug requires maintenance. For recommended spar k plug, see T e chnical Data. 1. Remove the ignition cable boot and clean around the spark plu g.
English- 38 MAINTENANCE Checking the Safety System The machine is equipped with a safety system that pr events starting or driving u nder the following conditions. The engine can only be started when: 1. The mower de ck is disengaged. 2. The steering controls are in the outer , locked neutral position.
English- 39 MAINTENANCE Checking the Engine's Cooling Air Int ake Check that the engine’s cooling air int ake is free from leaves, grass, and dirt. If the cooling air int ak e is clogged, engine cooling deteriorates, which can lead to engine damage.
English- 40 MAINTENANCE Replacing the Air Filter If the engine seems weak or runs unevenly , the air filter may be clogged. If run with a dirty air filter , the spark plug can become fouled. For this reason, it is im portant to replace the air filter regularly (see th e heading Maintenance Schedule for the proper service interval).
English- 41 MAINTENANCE Replacing the Fuel Filter Replace the line-mounte d fuel filter every 100 hours (once per season ) or more regularly if it is clogged. Replace the filter as follows: 1. Move the hose clamp s away from the filter . Use flat-nosed pliers.
English- 42 MAINTENANCE Checking the V -belts Deck belt V -belts are not adjustable. Replace belt s if they begin to slip from wear . Deck belt removal • Park on a level surface.
English- 43 MAINTENANCE Deck belt inst allation NOTE: For ease in installing the deck belt, refer to the routing decal on bottom of seat. • Wrap the deck belt around the electric clutch pulley that is located on the engine shaft. • Route the belt forwar d between the EZT (E-Series Zeroturn T ransaxles) and up onto the deck.

English- 45 MAINTENANCE Checking the Blades In order to attain the best mowing effect, it is important that the bla des are well sharpened and not damag ed. Bent or cracked blades or blades with large nicks should be replaced. Check the blade mounts. Damaged blades should be repla ced when hitting obstacles that result in a breakdown.
English- 46 MAINTENANCE • Install new or re-sharpened blade with stamped "GRASS SIDE" facing towards ground/grass (down) or “THIS SIDE UP” facing deck and cutte r housing. • Install and tighten blade bolt securely . T orque blade bolt to 27-35 ft/lb (35-45 N m).
English- 47 MAINTENANCE T o level deck Adjust the deck while the mower is on a level surface. Make sure th e tires are inflated to the correct pressure. See “T echnical Dat a” under T ransmission. If tire s are under or over inflated, you can not properly adjust your deck.
English- 48 MAINTENANCE Front-to-back adjustment T o obtain the best cutting performance, the deck should be adjus ted so the fro nt tip of the blades are approximatel y 1/8" (3.2 mm) to 1/4" (6.5 mm) lower than the rear tip. If the front tip is higher , this will create a poor quality of cut.
English- 49 MAINTENANCE T o adjust anti-scalp rollers Deck has anti-scalp rollers. Anti-scalp rollers are properly adjusted when they are just slightly of f of the ground when the deck is at the desi r ed cutting height in the operating position.
English- 50 MAINTENANCE Cleaning and W ashing Regular cleaning and washing, especially under the mower deck, will increase the machine’s lifesp an. Make it a habit to clean the machine directly after use (after it is cooled), before the dirt sticks.
English- 51 LUBRICATION Lubrication Lubrication Schedule General Remove the ignition key to prevent unintentional move ments during lubrication. When lubricating with an oil can, it must be filled with engine oil. When lubricating with grease, unless otherwise stated , use a high grade molybdenum disulfide grease.
English- 52 LUBRICATION Lubricating the Cables If possible, grease both ends of the cables and move th e controls to end stop po sitions when lubricating. Refit the rubber covers on the cables af ter lubricat ion. Cables with sheaths will bind if they are not lubricated regularly .
English- 53 LUBRICATION 1. Place the machine on a flat surface. 2. Remove the yellow cap and fit a hose to the drain valve. 3. Place a containe r under the engi ne where the hose from the oil drain valve exits. 4. Remove the dipstick and open the drain valve by turning and pulling out the black sleeve.
English- 54 LUBRICATION Checking the oil level Check the oil level in the engine when the machine is standing level and the engine is stopped. Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, and then replace it . The dipstick should be screwed into place. T ake the dip stick out again and read the oil level.
English- 55 LUBRICATION 6. Check the oil level in the engine, fill if necessary . The oil filter holds 0.1 liters of oil. T ransmission The transmission is ma intenance free. There is no need for level checks or o il changes. If a leak occurs, replace th e unit or contact your Husqvarna dealer .

English- 59 STORAGE St o ra g e Winter S torage At the end of the mowi ng season, the machine should be readied for storage (or if it will not be in use for longer than 30 days). Fuel allowed to stand for long periods of time (30 days or more) can leave sticky residue s that can foul the carburetor and disru pt engine function.
