9 CHECK TIRE PRESSURE The tires on your tr actor were ov er infl ated at the f actor y f or shipping pur poses. Correct tire pressure is impor tant f or best cutting performance. • Reduce tire pressure to PSI shown in “PRODUCT SPEC I FI CA TIONS” section of this manual.

12 OPERA TION The operation of any tractor can result in f oreign objects thro wn into the eyes, which can result in severe e ye dam age. Al ways wear safety glass es or eye shields while op- erating y our tractor or per form ing any adjustments or repairs.
13 T O ADJUST GA UGE WHEELS (See Fig. 9) Gauge wheels are properly adjusted when they are slightly off the ground when mow er is at the desired cutting height in operating position. Gauge wheels then keep the dec k in proper position to help pre vent scalping in most terrain conditions.
14 ADD GASOLINE • Fill fuel tank to bottom of fi ller neck. Do not ov erfi ll. Use fresh, clean, regular un lead ed gasoline with a minimum of 87 octane. (Use of leaded gasoline will increase carbon and lead o xide deposits and reduce valv e life).

18 MAINTENANCE V- B E LT S Check V -belts f or deter ioration and wear after 100 hours of operation and replace if necessary . The belts are not ad just able . Re place belts if they begin to slip from w ear. TRANSAXLE COOLING The transmission f an and cooling fi ns should be kept clean to assure proper cooling.
19 • Unlock dr ain v alve by pushing inw ard and tur ning coun ter clock wise. • T o open, pull out on the drain v alve . • After oil has drained completely , close and lock the drain v alve b y pushing inward and tur ning clockwise until the pin is in the lock ed position as shown.
