SAFETY HUSQV ARNA -7 General use This manual is a valuable document. Read the contents carefully before using or servicing the machine. The following of instructions (use, service, maintenance, etc.) by all who operate this machine is important for the safety of the operator and others.
SAFETY 8 - HUSQV ARNA Follow all safety instructions. Failure to do so may • result in injury to yourself or others. Accident prevention regulations, other general • safety regulations, occupational safety rules and trafc regulations must be followed without fail.
SAFETY HUSQV ARNA -9 Preparations Make sure that you always have rst aid • equipment at hand when using the machine. Make sure nobody else is in the vicinity of the • machine when you start the engine, engage the drive or run the machine. Make sure animals and people maintain a safe • distance from the machine.
SAFETY 10 - HUSQV ARNA Operating Do not use the machine on grades of more than • 10°. Do not use the machine if you are tired, if you • have consumed alcohol, or if you are taking other drugs or medication that can affect your vision, judgment or coordination.
SAFETY HUSQV ARNA -1 1 Movement/T ransport T o turn and steer the machine, press down on the • handle and turn on the back wheels. T urn off the engine and allow it to cool at least two • minutes before transport. Fold the handle down if the machine is equipped • with a collapsible handle.
SAFETY 12 - HUSQV ARNA Fuel System Store fuel only in containers approved for that • purpose. Never remove the fuel cap and ll the fuel tank • when the engine is running. Always stop the engine when refueling. • Do not smoke when lling the gasoline tank and • do not pour gasoline in the vicinity of sparks or open ame.
SAFETY HUSQV ARNA -13 Maintenance Never make adjustments with the engine running. • Disengage the drive units, shut off the engine and • wait until all moving parts come to a complete stop before making adjustments, performing maintenance or cleaning the machine.
PROTECTION EQUIPMENT 14 - HUSQV ARNA Personal Protection Equipment Consult your Husqvarna dealer when selecting protective equipment. Dealers have a broad assortment of equipment for professionals (such as forestry workers) and knowledge about occupational environment requirements and protective levels.
SET -UP HUSQV ARNA -15 Remove crate top and sides. 1. Remove upper handle bar assembly and lay aside. 2. Open bag containing loose hardware. 3. Using four (4) screws, at washers and nuts attach 4. the upper handle bar assembly to lower handle bar assembly .
SET -UP 16 - HUSQV ARNA Set the brake rod assembly into the brake bracket. 7. The brake rod assembly needs to be adjusted before connecting the yoke to the brake. T urning the yoke clockwise shortens the rod, tightening the grip on the brake disc by the brake pads.
SET -UP HUSQV ARNA -17 THROTTLE CABLE ENGINE THROTTLE CONTROL LEVER FORW ARD THROTTLE CABLE Push throttle control lever on console forward to 13. full extent. Pull throttle control lever on engine back as far as possible. Insert “L” end of throttle cable into the outside hole of the engine throttle control lever .

CONTROLS HUSQV ARNA -19 Engine Exterior engine components and controls. Speed control lever 1. Starter handle 2. Air lter 3. Mufer 4. Fuel V alve 5. Choke control 6. Oil drainage 7. Speed Control Lever The speed control lever on the engine is normally not used.
CONTROLS 20 - HUSQV ARNA Starter The magnapull-type starter has spring return. T o replace the return spring or starter cord, contact an authorized service workshop. Starter Handle Misuse of the starter handle can damage the starter . Do not twist the starter cord around your hand.
CONTROLS HUSQV ARNA -21 Air Filter The engine air lter consists of a cyclone lter and a ne lter . Air is drawn in through the screen (1) on the cyclone lter and coarser pollutants collect in the container (2). The ne lter , consisting of a foam rubber pre-lter and a paper lter cartridge, is located under the cowling (3).
CONTROLS 22 - HUSQV ARNA Oil Dipstick The dipstick for the crankcase oil reservoir is located on the front of the engine. Rell the engine oil in the hole where the dipstick ts. When checking the oil level, the dipstick should not be screwed in. The machine should be parked on even ground with the engine stopped.
CONTROLS HUSQV ARNA -23 Fuel T ank Underneath the tank, there is a fuel lter combined with the fuel valve. T ank capacity is 1.72 gallons (6.5 liters) Fueling Read the safety instructions before fueling. Keep the fuel and fuel tank clean. Avoid lling the machine with dirty fuel.
CONTROLS 24 - HUSQV ARNA Throttle The lever controls engine speed. With the lever down, the engine runs at idle and functions as start position. When the engine speed increases, the centrifugal clutch drive automatically engages the cutting wheel.
CONTROLS HUSQV ARNA -25 Brake The lever activates a disk brake on the left wheel when it is pulled backwards. The brake should always be activated when the grinder is parked, is being transported or when it is in operation W ARNING! NEVER operate a machine with a defective brake.
OPERA TION 26 - HUSQV ARNA Preparation Dig away the earth and remove any stones near • the tree stump that may interfere with your work. Check that the ground is free of foreign objects, such as electrical cables, barbed wire, etc. Cut or trim the stump as necessary using a power • saw .
OPERA TION HUSQV ARNA -27 Starting The Engine Check that all daily maintenance as described in the maintenance schedule has been performed. Check that there is sufcient fuel in the tank. Fuel valve Open the fuel valve. Push the lever fully to the right.
OPERA TION 28 - HUSQV ARNA Handle Engine Switch Set the toggle switch to ON. Engine ON/OFF Switch The switch on the engine is disconnected. Use the Handle Engine Switch. O N O F F 8060-026 OP Grip Bar Hold in the bar for the OP grip bar against the handle.
OPERA TION HUSQV ARNA -29 Procedure Place the cutting blade near the top front edge of 1. the tree stump. Set the brake to lock position. 2. W ARNING! NEVER allow the blade to touch the ground until it has stopped turning O N O F F 8060-026 Set the throttle to SLOW (ST ART) DISENGAGE.
OPERA TION 30 - HUSQV ARNA IMPORT ANT INFORMA TION If the cutting wheel is too low , the machine may start to “climb” over the stump and become unstable. T ilt the machine on its wheels, lifting the cutting 5. wheel off the ground. Hold in the OP grip bar and start the engine.
OPERA TION HUSQV ARNA -31 Before moving the machine forwards, you should 1 1. ensure that the cutting wheel is above the ground and located on either side of the stump. Move the machine forward by releasing the brake, pushing it forward, activating the brake again and repeating Steps 9 and 10.
OPERA TION 32 - HUSQV ARNA Normal Shutdown Throttle Set the throttle to SLOW/DISENGAGE. If the engine has been running full out, let it run easily for about 30 seconds to 1 minute at low speed. DO NOT let front of unit touch ground until you are sure cutting wheel has stopped turning.
MAINTENANCE HUSQV ARNA -33 Maintenance Schedule The following is a list of maintenance procedures that MUST be performed on the machine. For those points not described in this manual, visit an authorized service workshop. 1) First change after 20 hours.
MAINTENANCE 34 - HUSQV ARNA Cyclone Filter The cyclone lter collects the largest contaminant particles, which collect in the container . When you can see a layer of dirt at the bottom of the container , the cyclone housing (1), air channels and air intake screen (2) must be cleaned.
MAINTENANCE HUSQV ARNA -35 Air Filter If the engine seems weak, produces black smoke or runs unevenly , the air lter may be clogged. For this reason, it is important to clean and replace the air lter regularly (see the maintenance schedule for the proper service interval).
MAINTENANCE 36 - HUSQV ARNA 801 1-031 Remove the wing nut in the air lter and remove 3. the paper lter . IMPORT ANT INFORMA TION DO NOT use compressed air over 2 bar/30 PSI to clean the paper lter . DO NOT wash the paper lter . DO NOT oil the paper lter .
MAINTENANCE HUSQV ARNA -37 W ARNING! Risk for carbon monoxide poisoning. Perform the adjustment outdoors. 801 1-128 Unscrew the sludge reservoir (1). Make sure not to 2. misplace the o-ring (2). Clean the reservoir and the o-ring using a cleaning 3. solvent and dry carefully .
MAINTENANCE 38 - HUSQV ARNA IMPORT ANT INFORMA TION Fitting the wrong spark plug type can damage the engine. 801 1-027 Ignition System The engine is equipped with an electronic ignition system. Only the spark plug requires maintenance. For recommended spark plug, see “T echnical data”.
MAINTENANCE HUSQV ARNA -39 Drive Belt Remove the belt guard by removing the three 1. acorn nuts and lockwashers on the front of the belt guard. W ARNING! Prevent the engine from being started by removing the ignition cable from the spark plug. 8060-226 8060-227 Check that the belt is properly tensioned by 2.

MAINTENANCE HUSQV ARNA -41 Removing/Retting Wheels Left Wheel T o remove the left wheel (1) from the stump grinder , remove the locking collar (2), the ¼" screws (3), the ¼" hex nuts (3), the springs (4) and the brake pad (5). The wheel can now be removed from the axle.
MAINTENANCE 42 - HUSQV ARNA T wo Minute Rule The machine may be tipped backward or on its side to facilitate access for cleaning or service, but no longer than 2 minutes. If the machine is held in this position for too long, the engine can be damaged by gasoline draining into the crankcase.

LUBRICA TION 44 - HUSQV ARNA Engine Oil The engine should be warm (but not hot) when changing the oil. W arm oil ows out faster and leaves a smaller quantity of old oil inside the engine. Place a suitable container underneath the oil 1. drainage screw .
LUBRICA TION HUSQV ARNA -45 Right wheel Lubricate using a grease gun until the grease squeezes out one nipple. Use good quality MP grease. Grease from well-known brand names (petrochemical companies, etc.) usually maintains a good quality . Throttle cable Peel back the rubber covers at both of the cable mountings.

ST ORAGE 48 - HUSQV ARNA Winter Storage At the end of the season, the machine should be readied for storage (or if it will not be in use for longer than 30 days). Fuel allowed to stand for long periods of time (30 days or more) can leave sticky residues that can plug the carburetor and disrupt engine function.
