INTRODUCTION Husqvarna- 5 Congratulations Thank you for purchasing a Husqvarna ride-on mower . This machine is built for superior efciency to rapidly mow primarily large areas. A control panel easily accessible to the operator and a hydrostatic transmission regulated by steering controls both contribute to the machine’s performance.

SAFETY Husqvarna -15 Sparking can occur when working with the battery • and the heavy cables of the starter circuit. This can cause battery explosion, re or eye injury . Sparking in this circuit can not occur after the chassis cable (normally negative, black) is removed from the battery .
SAFETY 16 -Husqvarna IMPORT ANT INFORMA TION The parking brake is not sufcient to lock the machine in place during transport. Ensure that the machine is well fastened to the transport vehicle. Always reverse the machine onto the transport vehicle to avoid tipping it over .
CONTROLS Husqvarna- 17 This operator ’s manual describes the Husqvarna Zero T urn Rider . The rider is tted with either a Kohler or Briggs & Stratton four-stroke overhead valve engine developing 24-26 horse power*. T ransmission from the engine is made via a belt-driven hydraulic pumps.
CONTROLS 18 -Husqvarna 8058-022 Steering controls Steering Control Levers The machine’s speed and direction are continuously variable using the two steering controls.
CONTROLS Husqvarna- 19 Parking Brake 8058-020 Parking brake released IMPORT ANT INFORMA TION The machine must stand absolutely still when applying the parking brake. Always set the parking brake before dismounting. Release the parking brake before moving the mower .
CONTROLS 20 -Husqvarna 8052-001 Choke control Ignition Switch The ignition key is placed on the control panel and is used to start and stop the engine. Fuses Fuses are located under the seat of the machine. They are accessed by tilting the seat forward.
CONTROLS Husqvarna- 21 Fuel T ank Read the safety instructions before refueling. The machine has one fuel tank, just behind the seat. The tank capacity is 4 gallons (15.1 liters). Regularly check the gas cap gasket for damage and keep the cap properly tightened.
CONTROLS 22 -Husqvarna Fuel Shut Off V alve The fuel shut off valve is located at the left rear of the seat. The valve is of f when the handle tab is turned perpendicular to the fuel line.
CONTROLS Husqvarna- 23 Seat Adjustment Lever The seat can be adjusted lengthways. When making adjustments, the lever under the right front side of the seat is pulled to the side, after which the seat can be moved backward or forward. 8058-034 Lengthways adjustment Hour Meter The hour meter displays the total operating time.
OPERA TION 24 -Husqvarna Read “Safety Instructions” section and following pages, if you are unfamiliar with the machine. T raining Zero turn mowers are far more maneuverable than typical riding mowers due to their unique steering capabilities.
OPERA TION Husqvarna- 25 Before Starting Read the sections Safety Instructions and Controls • before starting the machine. Perform the daily maintenance before starting • (see Maintenance Schedule in the Maintenance section). Check that there is sufcient fuel in the fuel tank.
OPERA TION 26 -Husqvarna Move the steering controls outward to the locked (outer) neutral position. Move the throttle to the middle position. If the engine is cold, the choke control should be pulled up.
OPERA TION Husqvarna- 27 Press in and turn the ignition key to the start position. When the engine starts, immediately release the ignition key back to the run position. IMPORT ANT INFORMA TION Do not run the starter for more than 5 seconds each time.
OPERA TION 28 -Husqvarna 801 1-642 Jumper cable connection IMPORT ANT INFORMA TION Y our mower is equipped with a 12-volt negative grounded system. The other vehicle must also be a 12-volt negative grounded system. Do not use your mower to start other vehicles.
OPERA TION Husqvarna- 29 Running Release the parking brake by pushing the button 1. and moving the lever downward. NOTE: The mower is equipped with an operator presence system. When the engine is running, any attempt by the operator to leave the seat without rst setting the parking brake will shut off the engine.

OPERA TION Husqvarna- 31 Mowing Tips Observe and ag rocks and other xed objects to • avoid collisions. Begin with a high cutting height and reduce it until • the desired mowing result is attained. The average lawn should be cut to 2½" (64 mm) during the cool season and over 3" (76 mm) during the hot months.
OPERA TION 32 -Husqvarna UP BLADES ON DOWN BLADES OFF CHOKE F A ST SL OW IMPORT ANT INFORMA TION Leaving the ignition switch in any other position than “OFF” will cause the battery to be discharged.
OPERA TION Husqvarna- 33 Pump Release V alves Pump release valves are located at the left and right of the pump. They are used to release the system so the machine may be moved by hand when not running. T ilt seat forward to gain access to the pump. The left bypass valve sits directly opposite the right valve.
MAINTENANCE 34 -Husqvarna Check the parking brake ● Check the engine’s oil level (every refueling) ● Check the safety system ● Check for fuel and oil leakages ♦ Check/clean the engine’s co.

Before performing any service or adjustment checklist • Engage the parking brake. • Place the Blade-switch in the disengaged position. • T urn the ignition switch to “OFF” position and remove the key . • Make sure the blades and all moving parts have completely stopped.
MAINTENANCE 36 -Husqvarna Battery Y our mower is equipped with a maintenance free battery and does not need servicing. However , periodic charging of the battery with an automotive type battery charger will extend its life. • Keep battery and terminals clean.
MAINTENANCE Husqvarna- 37 Ignition System The engine is equipped with an electronic ignition system. Only the spark plugs require maintenance. For recommended spark plugs, see T echnical Data. Remove the ignition cable boot and clean around 1. the spark plug.
MAINTENANCE 38 -Husqvarna Engine Cooling Air Intake Check that the engine’s cooling air intake is free from leaves, grass, and dirt. If the cooling air intake is clogged, engine cooling deteriorates, which can lead to engine damage. The cooling air intakes rotates when the engine is running.

MAINTENANCE 40 -Husqvarna Kohler Engine These engines are equipped with a replaceable, high density paper air cleaner element. Some engines are also equipped with an oiled, foam precleaner surrounding the paper element. Check the air cleaner daily or before starting the engine.
MAINTENANCE Husqvarna- 41 Kawasaki Engine Remove the plastic fastener on the top of 1. the air lter cowling and remove the air lter cowling. Remove the foam rubber pre-lter and clean 2. using a mild detergent. Squeeze it dry with a clean cloth.
MAINTENANCE 42 -Husqvarna Fuel Filter Replace the line-mounted fuel lter every 100 hours (once per season) or more regularly if it is clogged. Replace the lter as follows: 1. Move the hose clamps away from the lter . Use 2. at-nosed pliers.
MAINTENANCE Husqvarna- 43 Parking Brake Visually check that no damage is found on the lever , cables, or switch belonging to the parking brake. Perform a standstill test and check that there is sufcient braking action. T o adjust the parking brake, contact the Husqvarna service workshop.
MAINTENANCE 44 -Husqvarna V -belts Check every 100 hours of operation. Check for severe cracking and large nicks. NOTE: The belt will show some small cracks in normal operation. The belts are not adjustable. Replace belts if they begin to slip from wear .
MAINTENANCE Husqvarna- 45 Pump Belt Replacing pump belt Park the mower on a level surface. Engage the parking brake. Belt removal Remove the deck belt (see Deck Belt Removal in 1. this section of the manual). Create slack in the belt by removing the spring on 2.
MAINTENANCE 46 -Husqvarna Blade replacement Remove blade bolt by turning counterclockwise. 1. Install new or resharpened blade with stamped 2. “GRASS SIDE” facing towards ground/grass (down) or “THIS SIDE UP” facing deck and cutter housing. Install and tighten blade bolt securely .
MAINTENANCE Husqvarna- 47 Adjusting the Mower Deck Leveling deck Adjust the deck while the mower is on a level surface. Make sure the tires are inated to the correct pressure. See “T echnical Data” under T ransmission. If tires are under or over inated, the deck cannot be properly adjusted.
MAINTENANCE 48 -Husqvarna Anti-scalp rollers Anti-scalp rollers are properly adjusted when they are just slightly off of the ground when the deck is at the desired cutting height in the operating position. Anti-scalp rollers then keep the deck in the proper position to help prevent scalping in most terrain conditions.
MAINTENANCE Husqvarna- 49 Cleaning Regular cleaning and washing, especially under the mower deck, will increase the machine’s life-span. Make it a habit to clean the machine directly after use (after it is cooled), before the dirt sticks. Do not spray water on the top of the mower deck.
LUBRICA TION 50 -Husqvarna General Remove the ignition key to prevent unintentional movements during lubrication. When lubricating with an oil can, it must be lled with engine oil. When lubricating with grease, unless otherwise stated, use a high grade molybdenum disulphide grease.
LUBRICA TION Husqvarna- 51 Front Wheel Mount Lubricate with a grease gun, one zerk for each wheel mount, until the grease is forced out. Use only good quality bearing grease. Grease from well-known brand names (petrochemical companies) usually maintains a good quality .
LUBRICA TION 52 -Husqvarna IMPORT ANT INFORMA TION Used engine oil is a health hazard and must not be disposed of on the ground or in nature; it should always be disposed of at a workshop or appropriate disposal location. A void skin contact; wash with soap and water in case of spills.
LUBRICA TION Husqvarna- 53 8009-159 The dipstick markings Changing the Engine Oil The engine oil should be changed for the rst time after 5-8 hours of operation. Thereafter , it should be changed every 50 hours. The oil drain valve is located on the left side of the unit, below the oil lter .
LUBRICA TION 54 -Husqvarna *T ransaxle (T ransmission) Fluid Change This transaxle is designed with an external lter for ease of maintenance. T o ensure constant uid quality levels and longer life, an oil lter change interval of every 200 hours is recommended.

LUBRICA TION 56 -Husqvarna Purging Procedures Due to the effects air has on efciency in hydrostatic drive applications, it is critical to purge the system. These purge procedures should be implemented any time a hydrostatic system has been opened to facilitate maintenance or any additional oil has been added to the system.

Fuel allowed to stand for long periods of time (30 days or more) can leave sticky residues that can plug the carburetor and disrupt engine function.
