6 CONNECT B A TTER Y (See Figs. 2) CA UTION: Do not short battery termi- nals by allo wing a wrench or any other object to con tact both terminals at the same time. Bef ore connecting battery , remove metal bracelets, wristwatch bands, rings, etc. P ositive terminal must be connected fi rst to pre vent sparking from accidental ground ing.

9 ASSEMBL Y T O ASSEMBLE AND INST ALL MULCHER PLUG (See Fig. 8) • Remov e spr ing retainer and pin from handle. • Inser t plug into handle. Make sure that the letter "A" on both the plug and handle are on the same side and that they can both be seen from the top when la ying on the ground.

15 T O OPERA TE ON HILLS W ARNING: Do not drive up or down hills with slopes greater than 15° and do not drive across an y slope . • Choose the slo west speed before starting up or down hills.
16 OPERA TION T O ST ART ENGINE (See Fig. 9) When star ting the engine for the fi rst time or if the engine has run out of fuel, it will take e xtra cranking time to mov e fuel from the tank to the engine. • Be sure freewheel control is in the transmission en gaged position.
17 MULCHING MO WING TIPS IMPORT ANT: FOR BEST PERFORMANCE, KEEP MO WER HOUSING FREE OF BUIL T -UP GRASS AND TRASH. CLEAN AFTER EA CH USE. • The spe cial mulch ing blade will recut the g rass clip- pings many times and reduce them in siz e so that as they f all onto the lawn they will disperse into the gr ass and not be noticed.

21 6 ST AR P A TTERN BLADE The center of this blade has a 6 star pattern. The bolt at- tach ing this blade has Left Hand threads that loosens b y tur ning ( ) clockwise and tight en by turning ( ) coun ter - clock wise.
22 FIG. 23 T O CHANGE ENGINE OIL (See Fig. 23) Determine temperature range expected bef ore oil change. All oil must meet API service classifi cation SG-SL. • Be sure tractor is on le vel surf ace. • Oil will drain more freely when warm. • Catch oil in a suitable container .

26 T O ADJUST STEERING WHEEL ALIGNMENT If steering wheel crossbars are not hor izontal (left to right) when wheels are positioned straight f orward, remov e steer- ing wheel and reassemble per instructions in the Assembly section of this manual. FRONT WHEEL T OE-IN/CAMBER The front wheel toe-in and camber are not adjustable on your tr actor .
