7 OPERA TION BEFORE ST AR TING ENGINE ADD OIL (See Fig. 8) Y our lawnmow er is shipped without oil in the engine. For type and grade of oil to use , see “EN GINE” in the Maintenance section of this manual. CA UTION: DO NO T overfi ll engine with oil, or it will smoke on startup.

13 ENGINE ENGINE SPEED Y our engine speed has been factory set. Do not attempt to increase engine speed or it ma y result in personal injur y . If you belie v e that the engine is r unning too f ast or too slow , take y our lawn mow er to a Sears or other authorized ser vice center f or repair and adjustment.
