5 FUEL V AL VE LEVER KNOW YOUR LA WN MOWER READ THIS OWNER'S MANUAL AND SAFETY RULES BEFORE OPERA TING YOUR LA WN MOWER. Compare the illustrations with your lawn mower to familiarize yourself with the location of various controls and adjustments.
6 TO CONVERT MOWER Y our lawn mower was shipped ready to be used as a mulcher . T o convert to bagging or discharging: REAR BAGGING (See Fig. 5) • Lift rear door of the lawn mower and place the grass catcher frame hooks onto the door pivot pins. • T o convert to mulching or dis charg ing operation, remove grass catch er and close rear door.

8 OPERA TION MOWING TIPS CAUTION: Do not use de-thatcher blade attachments on your mower . Such at- tachments are hazardous, will damage your mower and could void your warranty .
9 OPERA TION • A void cutting your lawn when it is wet. Wet grass tends to form clumps and interferes with the mulching action. The best time to mow your lawn is the early afternoon. At this time the grass has dried, yet the newly cut area will not be exposed to direct sunlight.

11 MAINTENANCE TO REPLACE BLADE (See Fig. 1 1) 1. Position the blade adapter on the engine crank shaft. Be sure key in adapter and crankshaft key way are aligned. 2. Position blade on the blade adapter aligning the two (2) holes in the blade with the raised lugs on the adapter .
12 CAUTION: T o avoid serious injury , before performing any service or adjustments: 1. Release control bar and stop engine. 2. Make sure the blade and all moving parts have completely stopped. 3. Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug and place where it cannot come in contact with plug.
13 ENGINE Maintenance, re pair , or re place ment of the emission con- trol de vic es and sys tems, which are be ing done at the cus tom ers expense, may be performed by any non-road engine repair es tab lish ment or individual. Warranty repairs must be performed by an authorized engine man u fac tur er's service outlet.
