6 DRIVE CONTROL ADJUSTMENT Over time , the drive control system ma y become “loose”, resulting in decreased speed. There is a b utton on the un der side of the drive control housing to increase tension on the drive cab le. Pro ceed as f ollows: 1.
7 SIDE DIS CHARG ING (See Fig. 10) • Mulcher plug must be installed into rear discharge open ing of mow er . • Open mulcher door and install discharge defl ector un der door as shown.
8 OPERA TION BEFORE ST AR TING ENGINE ADD OIL (See Figs. 11 and 12) Y our lawnmow er is shipped without oil in the engine. F or type and grade of oil to use , see “EN GINE” in the Maintenance section of this manual. CA UTION: DO NO T overfi ll engine with oil, or it will smoke hea vily fr om the m uf- fl er on star tup.
9 ADD GASOLINE (See Fig. 8) • Fill fuel tank to bottom of tank fi ller neck. Do not ov er- fi ll. Use fresh, clean, regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum of 87 octane . Do not mix oil with gasoline. Purchase fuel in quan ti ties that can be used within 30 da ys to assure fuel freshness.
