5 ASSEMBL Y • Grasp handle assembly . Hold in “up” position. Be sure handle lock remains in gearcase notch. Slide handle assembly into position. 8 OPERA TION TILLING (See Fig. 11) • Release depth stake pin. Pull the depth stake up f or increased tilling depth. Place depth stake pin in hole of depth stake to loc k in position. • Place shift le ver indicator in tilling position. • Hold the drive control bar against the handle to star t tilling mov ement.
9 OPERA TION TURNING • Release the drive control bar . • Mov e throttle control to “SLOW” position. • Place shift lev er indicator in “F” (forw ard) position.
10 OPERA TION • Soil conditions are impor tant for proper tilling. Tines will not readily penetrate dry , hard soil which may con trib ute to e xcessive bounce and diffi cult handling of your tiller . Hard soil should be mois tened before tilling; howe v er , e xtremely wet soil will “ball-up” or clump dur ing tilling.
11 MAINTENANCE GENERAL RECOMMEND A TIONS The warranty on this tiller does not co ver items that ha v e been subjected to operator ab use or negligence. T o receiv e full value from the w arranty , the operator m ust main tain tiller as instructed in this manual.

13 SER VICE AND ADJUSTMENTS CA UTION: Disconnect spark plug wire fr om spark plug and place wire where it cannot come into contact with plug. TILLER T O ADJUST HANDLE HEIGHT (See Fig. 18) Select handle height best suited f or your tilling conditions. Handle height will be diff erent when tiller digs into soil.

17 Immediately prepare your tiller f or storage at the end of the season or if the unit will not be used f or 30 days or more . W ARNING: Never store the tiller with gasoline in the tank inside a build ing where fumes may reac h an open fl ame or spark.
