8 If personal ident ification numbe r (PIN) prot ection is en abled on your mobile phone, you must enter your PIN befor e using the mobile phone. If you can not sign in or create a Go ogle account d uring the s etup, please complete other parts of the se tup first, and try again with any Goog le service preloaded on you r phone.
9 2.5 Using the Touchscreen 2.5.1 Touchscree n Actions • Touch : Tap the screen wit h your finger to se lect an item, con firm a selection, or start an app lication. • Touch and hold : Touch an item with your fin ger and do not release it until the mobile phone respon ds.
10 If you have set up a screen unlock pattern, you w ill be prompted to dra w the pattern on the screen to unlock it. 2.7 Home Scre en Touch and hold a shortcut until the mobile phone vib rates, you can then drag it to your desired location or move it to the trash.

12 2.7. 2 Noti fi cati on Panel Your mobile phone will notify you wh en you receive a new message or there is an upcoming event. The notification panel al so informs you of alarms and settings . Open the notification panel to see your network oper ator or to view a messag e, reminder, or event no tifica tion.
13 Notification s to open the panel. 2. On the panel, you can: • Touch a no tification to open the r elated application. • Touch Clear to clear all notification s. Closing the Notification Panel Touch and hold the bottom of the panel. Then flick up to close it.
14 Moving a Home Screen Item 1. Touch and hold an item on the Home scree n until the item expands in size and the mobile phone vibrates. 2. Without lifting your finger, drag the item to the desired position on the screen, and then release it. Removing a Home Screen Item 1.
15 2. Touch and hold the icon you want to move on the application screen. 3. Without lifting your finger, drag the icon t o the desired loca tion, and then releas e it. To move more icons, repeat steps 2 and 3. 4. Touch or t o save. 2.9 Using a micro SD Card 2.
16 3 Calling To make a phone call, you can dial a numb er using the keypad or t ouch a number saved in your contact list, on a web page, or in other places . When you are in a call, you can answer other incomin g calls or redire ct them to y our voicemail.
17 3.1. 3 Making a Cal l fr om Call log 1. On the Home screen, touch > Call log to display the call log. If you are alre ady working with Contacts or Dialer , touch the Call lo g tab. 2. Touch to the right of the log entry to dial. If you touch and hold a log entry , the options menu will open.
18 3.2.3 Rejecting an Incoming Call Drag to the left to reject the call. 3.3 Other Op erations During a Call 3.3.1 Making a Conference Call If you receive a new call while yo u are already in a call, yo u can add the s econd call to the call you are in .
19 3.3. 2 Swit ching Betwee n Call s If you receive a new ca ll while you are alread y in a call, you can swit ch between the two calls. 1. While you are in the first c all and the second call comes in, an swer the inc oming call, and then touch Swap calls .
20 4 Contacts The Contacts application enables you to sa ve and manage information s uch as phone numbers and addr esses of your contact s. After you save c ontact information on your mobile phone, yo u have easy access to the people with whom you want to communica te.
21 4.4 Adding a Contact to Your Favorites • Touch and hold the contact you want to add to Favorites . Then t ouch Add to Favorites . • Touch a con tact, and then tou ch the star to the r ight of the cont act’s name. The star turns gold. 4.5 Searching fo r a Contact 1.
22 4.7. 1 Usin g Quick Conta ct for Andr oid 1. Touch the contact's picture or picture frame (if you hav e not assigned a pictu re to the contact) to open Quick Contact for Android. 2. Touch the icon for the way you want to commun icate with the contac t.
23 Restoring Contacts 1. In the contact list, touch > Manage contacts . 2. Touch Restore from SD ca rd in the d isplayed menu. If there is more than one .vcf files saved on the microSD card , you can choose to restore one, multiple, or all the of them.
24 4.10.3 Preference Settings You can configure accou nt settings, such as refresh mode, refres h frequency, and notifications. 1. On the Streams screen, touch > Accounts . Then touch the acco unt to be configured. 2. On the account screen, touch Social Preference Settings to configure the settings.
25 2. Make the desired changes to the gro up information, and then t ouch Save . To cancel all changes yo u made to the group infor mation, touch Cancel . 4.11.3 Adding a Contact to Your Groups To add a contact to your grou ps, you can do any of t he following: • Touch and hold the contact you want to add to Groups .
26 1. On the Home screen, touch > Contacts . 2. Touch the joint contact to be separated. 3. Touch the option for separating a co ntact. 4. Select the contact to be separated from the joint contact. The joint contact is then separa ted into two contacts display ed separately in Contacts .
27 5.1. 2 Using t he Touc hPal keyboar d 5.1.3 Switching the Keyboa rd Layout You can swit ch the key board layout o nly when TouchPal is selected. There are three keyboa rd layouts for you to cho ose: Full QWERTY , 12-Key PhonePad and CooTek T+ .
28 5.1.4 Using th e Landscap e Keyboard If you find the keyboard inconvenient or difficult to us e, turn your mobile phone sideways. The screen will display the keyboard in landscape orient ation, providing you with a w ider keyboa rd layout. 5.2 Customizing Keyboard Setti ngs 1.

30 6.1.4 Open ing and Viewing a Multimedia M essage 1. In the message list, touch the message thre ad you wish to view. 2. Touch the multimedia message to view the message. 6.1. 5 Replyi ng to a Message 1. In the message list, touch a text or multimedia message th read to open it.

To customize your email settings, follow the onscreen instructio ns, and then touch Next . 4. Enter the account name and the name you want other people to see w hen they receive an email fr om you.
32 4. Enter the subject of your message and c ompose the message. To send an attachment with the message , touch , and then touch Add attachment . 5. When you are finished, touch Send . If you are not r eady to send t he message, to uch Save as draft or touch to save the message as a dra ft.
33 7 Getting Connected 7.1 Mobile Net works Your mobile phone will be automatically configured to use your network operator’s 2G/3G service (if available) when yo u turn on the phone for the f irst time. Note that the SIM/UIM card mu st be inserted ( some CDMA m obile phones h ave an integrat ed UIM card and do not need a separat e UIM card) 7.
34 7.2.2 Connec ting to a Wireless Netw ork 1. After turning on Wi-Fi, touch > Settings . 2. Touch Wireless & networks > Wi-Fi sett ings . You will see a list of detected Wi-Fi networks in the Wi-Fi networks section. 3. Touch a Wi-Fi network to connect to it.
35 3. Open the drivers folder and then open the usbnet_driver_win2k_xp folder. Double-click the link DownloadActiveSync.url . 4. Download and install ActiveSync 4.5 or a la ter vers ion. 5. After the installation, you are able t o use USB tethering. 7.
36 Touch to open the browser options menu an d perform one of the following operations: • New window : Touch to open a new wind ow. • Bookmarks : Touch to display bookmar ks. • Windows : Touch to view thu mbnails of open browse r windows. 37 Opening a Bookmark 1. In a browser window, touch , and then touch Bookmarks . On the Bookmarks screen, touch the Histo ry tab to view the pages you have visited, or touch the Most visited tab to view the pages you have vis ited most frequently. 2. Touch the bookmark of the website you want to open.
38 • Object Push Pr ofile (OPP): allows you to transfe r files over a Blu etooth connect ion. • Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A 2DP): allows yo u to use a stereo B luetooth headset. • A/V Remote Control Prof ile (AVRCP): allows yo u to control audio play ing using a Bluetooth headset remotely.
39 8 Entertainment In addition to being a communicatio n device and personal assi stant, your mobile phone also provides y ou with a multitude of en tertainment possibilities. You can take photos, create videos and au dio clips, and download and list en to music.

41 8.2 Using the Gallery Your Gallery application can automa tically search for pictures and videos on your mobile phone and microSD c ard. Use Gallery to sort photos a nd videos into folde rs, view and edit pictures, wa tch videos, and set a pict ure as wallpaper or as a phot o for a contact.
42 • Drag a corner of the cropping tool to res ize the image without changing its length to wi dth rat io. 3. Touch Save to save the cropped pic ture. Touch Discard to disc ard the c hanges. 8.3 Enjoying Music Before you using music player, you must copy mus ic fi les from your computer to the microSD ca rd.
43 8.3. 3 Playi ng Musi c 1. Touch a category on the music library screen. 2. Touch the song you want to play. When you are listening to music, touch , to use another application. Your music continues to play. To retur n to the music controls, ope n the notification panel and then touch the song.
44 8.4 Listening to the FM Radio The FM radio lets you listen to FM radio programs on yo ur mobile phone. Since the FM radio uses the provided wired ste reo headset as its antenn a, before opening the application, connect the head set to your phone’s the aud io jack.
45 9.1 Creating a Google Acco unt If you do n ot have a Google account , you can create one : 1. After reading the setup information, touch Next . 2. Touch Create . 3. Enter the first name, last name, and user name for your Google accou nt, and then touch Next .
46 9.2. 3 Creat ing an d Sendi ng an E mail 1. In the mail list, touch , and then touch Compose . 2. Enter the message recipient’s email ad dress in the To field. If you are sending the email to several recipie nts, separa te the email addresses with commas.
47 9.3 Talk Talk is Google’s instant messaging servic e. You can use it to communicate in real time with other people using Talk on a phone or on the web. 9.3.1 Open ing Talk On the Home screen, touch > Talk to open the application. Your Talk account is bas ed on the Google account you se t up with yo ur mobile phone.
48 9.3. 6 Signi ng out of T alk On the friends list screen, touc h , and then touch Sign out to quit Talk . 9.4 Maps Maps lets you find your curren t location, view real-time traff ic conditions (depend ing on availability in your locale), and get deta iled directions to vari ous destinations.
49 9.4. 3 Searc hing f or Pl aces of Int erest 1. On the map, touch , and then touch Search . 2. Enter the place you wan t to search f or in the search box, and the n touch the Se arch icon. 3. Your search results will then be displayed. Touch a place you are interes ted in and the application will show where it is on the map.
50 9.6 Market Android Market prov ides direct access to ap plications and games whic h you can download and install on your phone . 9.6.1 Open ing Market 1. On the Home screen, touch > Market . 2. When you open Market for the first time, the Android Market Terms of Service window will appear.
51 If you want to install a non-Market app lication, touch > Settings > Applications , and then select the Unknown sources check box to allow installation of the non-Mark et application. 9.6. 4 Uninst al ling an Appl icat io n 1. On the Market screen, touc h > My Apps .
52 1. On the Home screen, touch > Settings > Accounts & sync . The screen displays your curren t synchronization settings and a list of your curren t accounts. In some cases, you may need to obt ain account details fr om IT support. For example, you may need to kno w the account’s domain or server address.

Confirm that you want to remove the acco unt. 10.2 Customizing Y our Account Synchronization You can configure backg round data use and sync hronization options fo r all the applications on your p hone.

If you have more than one calendar, s elect the calenda r where you wa nt to save the ev ent. 2. Enter the event name. • If there is a time frame for the event, touch From and To to set the beginning and end times of the event.
56 2. Touch the icon next to a calenda r to change wh ether it is synchro nize and whe ther it is displayed. You remain subs cribed to Calendars that you configur e not to st ore on the phone and you can still work with them with Google Cale ndar on the web.
57 11.3.3 Moving or Co pying a File 1. On the File Manager screen, touch to show the options pane l, and then touch Multiselect . 2. Touch the file or fold er you want to move or copy. When a file or a folder is selected, a check mark will appear. To select or unselect all files, touch Select all or Unselect all .
58 4. Edit the save path and the name of the target file, and then touch OK to start compressing the files a nd folders. Extracting a File 1. Touch and hold a compressed file. 2. Touch Extract . 3. Edit the save path for the extracted files. 4. Touch OK to start extracting .
59 2. Touch Time to set the time of the alarm. 3. Touch Repeat to set the days when you want the alarm to sound. 4. Touch Ring tone to select a ringtone fo r the alarm. 5. Select the Vibrate check box to enable the phone t o vibrate, in addition to playing the ringtone.
60 11.7 Weather Clock You can us e Weather Clock to check the date and t ime of cities around the wo rld, to get the latest weather of any cit y in any time and to share we ather information wit h others. You need to turn on the GPS and data service on your pho ne before using weather clock.
61 11.7.4 Sharing We ather Information 1. On the weather clock screen, touch > Share weather . 2. Enter a phone number or a contact's name in the To field, or touch to select a Contacts or Groups . 3. Touch to se nd weat her in format ion to the re cipien t.

If your mobile phone does not have spee ch synthesizer data installed, connect to Android Market and let it guide you through the process of downloading and installing the data.
