2 Introduction SIM Card and Memory Card Insert your SIM ca rd before using your phone. Remove the SIM card and the battery only after powering of f y our phone. To use the SIM card prop- erly, please read the following instructi ons carefully. N OTE : • Keep the SIM card out of the reach of chil dren.
Introduction 3 The following figures show the installat ion of the SIM card and memory card. Charging the Battery N OTE : • The battery discharges even when not bein g used. If you have not used it for a long time, please recharge it first. 1 Remove the battery cover .

If the b attery lasts for a shor ter time period than usual after being charged normal ly, replace it with a battery of the same type. • The chargin g time depends o n the environm ental temperat ure and the age of the b attery.

Introduction 7 Home Screen Power Key • Press and hold it to power on or power off t he phone. • Press it to lock or unlock the touch screen. The phone is curren tly in the HSDP A network. The phone is currently in the GSM network. When “G” is in red, it indicates in EDGE/GPRS network.
8 Introduction Using the Touch Screen You can select an item or enter text by tapping the touch screen with your finger. N OTE : • Tap the icon a ccurately to select an it em. • Tap gently to protect your tou ch screen. • When the screen is locked, pr ess the power key to unlock the touch screen.
Introduction 9 Calibrating the Touch Screen If your phone does not respond t o your touch requests correctly, calibrate the screen as follows. 1. Select Settings > Touch settings > Calibration to access the screen for calibration.
10 Introduction Accessing the Widget Bar The widget bar provides quick access to the most frequently used items. 1. Tap the widget bar tab located o n the left side of the home screen to open the widget bar. 2. Tap the item on the widget bar to use it.
Introduction 11 • Set the fixed dial er number list to define the numbers that your phone can dial. This function needs to be supporte d by the SIM card.
12 Text Input 2 Text Input On-screen Keypad Mode You can tap the keys on the on-screen keypad to enter alp habets, numbers, or symbols. 1 Candidate character area 2 On-screen keypad: T a p the ke ys on the keypad to enter alphabets, nu mbers, or symbols.
Text Input 13 T9 ® Input Method With the T9 input method, you can easily and quickly enter words. T9 is a predictive text ent ry mode. Press the relevant key that corresponds to the required letter and T9 will offer you candidate words.
14 Customized Settings 3 Customized Settings Profiles You can set differ ent profiles according to differ ent scenarios. • On the standby screen, tap the profile icon t o edit it. •S e l e c t Settings > Profiles > Desired it em. Select a profile.

16 Call Service 4 Call Service Contacts You can save or manage the i nformation about contacts in Contacts . Y ou can also set a contact number as a speed dialing number. Adding a Co ntact 1. Select Contacts > New Contacts . 2. Enter the information about the contact.
Call Service 17 Making a Call Making a Call from Keypad 1. On home screen, tap to open the dialer. 2. Enter the phone number on the dia ler. If you enter a wrong digit, tap to erase the digit. 3. To make a call, perform one of the following op erations: • Tap to make a call.
18 Call Service • Tap to make a call. • Press the send key to make a call. • Select Options > Call to make a call. Making a Call from Call History You can view all the missed calls, rece ived calls, or dia led numbers in call history. 1. Access Calls .
Call Service 19 2. You can answer a call according to your settings. Call Settings To enable call forwarding, call wait ing and call barring functions, consult your service provider. Select Settings > Call settings , you can enable or disab le the preceding functions.
20 Messaging 5 Messaging Sending a Message 1. Select Messaging > Create message to create a message. 2. When you edit a message, you can tap the icons at the bott om of the screen to insert pi ctures or other files. 3. After the message is completed, tap or press the OK key, and then select Add from contacts or Enter number to add a recipient.
Messaging 21 Broadcast Inbox The broadcast messages are sav ed in the broa dcast inbox. Select Messaging > Broadcast inbox to view broadcast messages. You can select Messaging > Settings > Broadcast to set the broadcast message. Message Settings 1.

Entertainment 23 6 Entertainment Playing Music or Video 1. Select music files, video files, or playlists. 2. Press the OK key to play music or video. 3. During playback, you can perform the following operat ions: • Press the OK key to pause or resume the playing.

After taking a picture or recordin g a video clip, you can tap the icons on screen to perform the desired operat ions.
Organizer 25 7 Organizer Viewing the Calendar 1. Select Calendar , and then select the desired date. 2. Press the OK key or tap th e selected date to view the reminder. 3. Select Opti ons to create a reminder, set the view mode, jump to a date, synchronize data, view incomplete reminder s, and search the calendar.

Select M y Files > Desired item to manage pictures, music f iles, video clips, documents, rington es, and other files. 2. Select a file folder, and then select Options > Desired item to perform operations in the option list.

28 Connectivity 8 Connectivity Installing PC Options By using PC options software, you can sync hr onise data between your phone and PC, surf the In ternet using your phone as a modem and read the memory card by USB cable. NOTE: • Your phone support s USB 2.

You can synchronise data between your phone and PC by using the PC Suite soft ware. • Select HUAWEI Mobile Connect via the ph one to install t he DialUp software.
30 Connectivity Using PC Options USB-based Synchronization You can synchronize data between your phone and PC. With a USB cable and the PC Assistant software, your phone can communicate with a PC. 1. Connect your phone to t he PC by using the USB cable.

32 Connectivity 7. Unplug your USB cable from the phone and PC. Connecting via Bluetooth Bluetooth-based Syn chronization Your phone can respond to data synchronizat ion requests from a PC. To operate the Bluetooth syn chronization with your phone, your PC must support Bluetoot h function.
Connectivity 33 To access the Internet through Bluetooth, make sure that your PC supports the Bluetoo th function and your SIM card supports the Internet access service.
34 Connectivity Using Bluetooth Headset You can answer a call using a Bluetooth headset or Bluetooth loud- speaker. For deta ils, refer to the corresponding user manual of a Bluetooth headset or loudspea ker. 1. Set the Bluetooth head set to the status for detecting.

When the standby time an d the talk time are shorter than the normal time, replace the battery.
