2 2 Getting st arte d HUAWEI MediaPad T1 8.0 at a Glance Congratulations on your purchase of the H UA WEI MediaPad T1 8.0. Installing the SIM and microSD Cards Press and hold the power ke y to power on or off your device or restart it. Press the power key once to turn on or off the screen.
3 1. Open the SIM and microSD card slot cover. 2. Insert the SIM c ard with its gold contact s facing up, as indicated in the precedi ng figure. Push the card inw ard until it clicks into place. 3. Insert the microSD card with its gold contacts facing up, as indica ted in the preceding figure.
4 If the device is powered on, the battery is charging when the battery icon in th e status bar changes to . If the device is powered off , the battery is charging when is displayed on the screen.
5 Your home screen at a glance Display area: Display widgets and app lication icons. Dock: displays your most common applications. Back key: Touch to return to the previous screen. 7 Shortcut operations T o open an application: On the home screen, touch the application. T o switch between the home screen and it s extensions: On the home screen, f lick your finger left or right. T o customize the home screen: T ouch and hold a blank area on the home screen.
8 Flick down from the status bar to open the notification pan el. Touch t o display the settings screen. Touch the switch shortcuts on the notification pan el to turn on or off the functions. Touch t o display the switch shortcut list and to uch to edit i t.
9 3 Te xt input Y our HUAWEI MediaPad comes with multiple input methods. Y ou can quickly enter text using the onscreen keyboard. T ouch a text input field to bring up the onscreen keyboard. When you are done, touch t o hide the onscreen keyboard.
10 4 Network connection Connecting to a Wi - Fi networ k 1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Wi - Fi . 2. Touch the key next to Wi - Fi or dr ag the k ey to . Your HUAWEI MediaPad then automatically scans for available Wi - Fi net works. 3. Select the desired Wi - Fi network and follow the onscreen instructions.
11 5 Network sharin g Y ou can use various methods to share your HUA WEI Med iaPad's data connection with other wireless devices. Sh aring your network using a Wi - Fi hotspot By setting up your HUA WEI MediaPad as a Wi - Fi hotspot, y ou can share your mobile network with other devices.
12 6 Managing applica tions Installing an appli cation Y ou can obtain and install an application using any of the following methods: Download it from an online app store or by using a browser . Af ter the application is downloaded, follow the onscreen instructions to install it.

14 8 Multimedia Viewing photos or videos Gallery enables you to conveniently view photos and videos. It automatically searches and organizes photos and videos stored on your HUA WEI MediaPad's internal storage and the microSD card for your easy reference.
15 Editing a photo Y our HUAWEI MediaPad prov ides powerful photo editing functions ma king your photos even more stunning. Y ou can apply di versified effects, such a s removing red eyes, filling light, or cropping a photo. 1. Touch Galler y and locate the photo you want to edit .
16 9 Customized settings The HUA WEI MediaPad allows you to set a desired photo as the wallp aper , design home screen widgets, and set desired ringtones. Changing the theme Y our HUAWEI MediaPad comes with multiple themes, easily allowing y our device to have a new look as often a s you want.
17 Managing your home screen 1. On the home screen, touch and hold a blank area. 2. In the displayed dialog box, touch Thumbnai ls . 3. On the thumbnail screen, you can: T ouch and hold a home screen thumbnail to mov e its position. T ouch to add a ho me screen.
18 T ouch t o delete a blank home s creen. Setting the ringtone 1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Sound . 2. Select the de sired ringtone type. 3. Follow the onscreen instructions to select your favorite music or re cording as the ringtone.
19 Adjusting the screen bri ght ness Y our HUAWEI MediaPad incorporates a light sensor that can automatically ad just the screen brightness based on the ambie nt light. Y ou can also manually adjust the display brightness. 1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Display > Brightness .
20 10 File sharing Sharing files using Wi - Fi Direct Wi - Fi Direct is a function to connect wireless devices using a Wi - Fi network. Af ter wireless devices are connected, they can qui ckly share files among them. 1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Wi - Fi .
21 Copying files from a computer Use a USB cable to connect y our HUA WEI MediaPad to a computer . F ollow your HU AW E I MediaPad's onscreen instructions to select a connection method. Y ou can then transfer files between your HUA WEI MediaPad and the computer .
22 11 Cont act s Creating a contact 1. On the home screen, touch Contacts to display your contacts list. 2. Touch . 3. Enter the related information, such as the contact's name, phone number, and email address. 4. Touch Add another field to add more information.
23 Backing up contacts Y ou can back up your contact s to a microSD card in case y our contacts are a ccidentally deleted or lost. 1. On the home screen, touch Contacts to display your contacts list. 2. Touch > More > Manage contacts . 3. In the displayed dialog box, touch Export to storage .
24 12 Calls Making an emergency call In the event of an emergency , you can make emergency calls w ithout a SIM card. However , you must still be within the coverage area. 1. On the home screen, touch Phone . 2. Enter a local emergency number and touch .
25 13 Messaging Searching for a message If you are having trouble finding a specific message in a pile of me ssage s, this function can come to your rescue. 1. On the home screen, touch Messaging . 2. Touch > Search . 3. Enter a keyword in the search box.
26 14 Settings Setting the screen timeout period Y ou can set a screen timeout period so y our HUA WEI MediaPad automatically turn of fs the screen to save power . 1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Display > Sleep . 2. Choose a timeout period.
27 Formatting a microSD card 1. On the home screen, touch Settings . 2. Touch Stora ge > Erase S D card . Restoring factory settings 1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Backup & reset . 2. Touch Factory data reset and follow the onscreen instructions to back up data or directly restore fact ory settings.
