1 1 Introduction Welcome to the bright ne w world of HUAWEI MediaPa d 10 Link (HUA WEI Media Pad for shor t). With HUAWEI MediaPad, you can: > Surf the Internet at lightening-fast speeds. > Take photos and record videos anytime anywh ere. > Enjoy the latest and hottest movies.
2 2 Getting Started HUAWEI MediaPad at a Glance 1 Light sensor 2 Front camera.
3 Installing the SIM and microSD Cards 1. Open the SIM and mi croSD card slot cover. 2. Insert the SIM card with its gold conta cts facing up, a s indicated in the preceding figure. Push t he card inward until it clicks into place. HUAWEI MediaPad is only compatible with standard SIM cards, whose dimensions are 0.
4 mm x 15 mm x 25 mm. Inse rting a SIM card wi th other dimensions will damage your HUAWEI MediaPad. 3. Insert the microSD card with it s gold contacts facing up, as indicated in th e preceding figure. Push the card inward until it clicks into place. 4.

7 Unlocking the Screen HUAWEI MediaPad supports multiple screen unlock methods. The default unlock method is used here as an example to illustrate how t o unlock the screen. 1. Press the Power key to wake up the screen. 2. Drag to the right until it r eaches .
8 You can drag to the shortcut icons on the top, left, or bottom to quickly access the cor responding applications. Home Screen HUAWEI MediaPad has an easy- to-use screen layout.
9 Notification and Status Icons The notification ba r displays notifi cations and icons to inform you of HUAWEI MediaPad's status. 1 View recent and running applica tions. 2 Return to the Home screen. 3 Return to the previous screen. 4 Display the time, Wi-Fi connection status, signa l strength, batter y level, and more.
10 > When is displayed, charge your HUAWEI MediaPad as soon as possible; otherwise it will automatically power off soon. > When your storage space is full, is displayed. Delete some files or applicati ons; otherwise you will not be able to install or run applications on HUAWEI MediaPad.
11 Notification Panel HUAWEI MediaPad can execute multiple tasks simultaneously. For example, y ou can browse the Intern et while downloading applications. You ca n check the task progress or results usin g the notification panel. Touch the status bar in the lower right corner o f the screen to open the notificat ion bar.
12 > To switch between screens, fro m the Home screen, flick left or right. > To customize the Home screen, touch and hol d a blank area on the Home screen t o display an options menu, from which you can choo se to customize the wallpaper , widgets, and mo re.
13 3 Text Input Bringing Up and Hiding the Onscreen Keyboard HUAWEI MediaPad is pre-install ed with multiple text input methods. You can convenient ly enter text using the onscreen keyboard. > To bring up the onscreen keyboa rd, touch a text input field.
14 Editing Text You can copy, cu t, and paste t ext using the on screen keyboard. 1. To edit text, touch and ho ld the text fie ld until two blue cursors appear. 2. Drag the cursors to select th e text you want to edit. 3. Touch Select all , Copy , or Cut to perform t he corresponding operation.
15 The preced ing figure is for your reference only. The keys may look slightly different . 4 Open the Input options menu, where you can select the input language or configure the Android input met hod settings, for example, enable or disable auto-capitalization and sound on keypress.

18 Adding Widgets to the Home Screen You can add widgets, such as the calendar, music pla yer, and weather clock to the Home screen . 1. Touch in the upper ri ght corner of the screen. 2. Touch and hold a widget and drag it to the desired position, and the n release it.
19 Adding a Home Screen Adding Home screens enables you to put more applications and widgets on the Home screen, helping you better organize your applications. 1. Touch and hold a blank area on the Home screen. 2. From the displayed options menu, choose Manage screens .

21 Adjusting the Volume You can set the volume of the tones, multimedi a, alarms, and notificat ions. 1. From the Home screen, tou ch > All > Sound > Volume . 2. Drag the sliders to adjust the volumes. > You can also use the volume keys to adjust the volume of running applicati ons.
22 Setting the Ringtone You can set any audio file, such as a song or recording, as the ringtone. 1. From the Home screen, tou ch > All > Sound > Default notification . 2. From the displayed options menu, choose Local music . 3. Touch the audio file you want, then OK .
23 Setting the Screen Timeout Period To reduce power consumpt ion, HUAWEI MediaPad automatically locks its screen if it is idle for a specified period. You can se t the ti meout period as you wish. 1. From the Home screen, tou c h > All > Display > Sleep .
24 5 Intern et Connectio n HUAWEI MediaPad brings you into a new age of wireless Internet surfi ng. Let's take a look at how this works. Wi-Fi Network A Wi-Fi network is a wireless local area network. Wi-Fi devices can maintain a high-spe ed connection to the Wi-Fi network even when they ar e moving.
25 > For an encrypted Wi-Fi network, enter the password when prompted. When HUAWEI MediaPad is con nected to a Wi-Fi netwo rk, you can touch its name to view con nection details, such as the network speed, e ncryption mode, and IP address.
26 Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot If HUAWEI MediaPad has Internet access, it can work as a Wi-Fi hotspot, convertin g mobile signals into Wi-Fi signals and allowi ng Wi-Fi d evices to ac cess the Intern et.
27 4. Touch Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings > Configure Wi-Fi hotspot . Then follow the onscreen instructions to configure the SSID, password, and other set tings. You can then sear ch for HUAWEI MediaP ad's SSID from Wi-Fi enabled devices to access th e Wi-F i network set up by HUAWEI MediaPad.
28 Sharing HUAWEI MediaPad's Data Connection Connect HUAWEI MediaP ad to a computer using a USB cable. You can then access the Internet from the comput er using HUAWEI MediaPad's data co nnection. To use US B tetherin g, ensure th at your HUA WEI MediaPad has Intern et access.
29 6 Browser The browser lets you su rf the web and browse web pages. Stay on the ball with real-time news and informa tion using your browser. Staying connect ed and browsing the Internet has never been easier. Browsing Web Pages From the Home screen, to uch to launch the bro w ser.
30 Downloading a File You can download files, images, and even applications from web pages. The downloaded files will be saved in your HUAWEI MediaPad's interna l memory or the microSD card. For example, to downlo ad an image from a web page, touch and hold the i mage, and choose Save image fro m the displayed options menu.
31 Setting Your Home Page You can set any web page as the home page. 1. From the Home screen, tou c h to launch the browser. 2. Select > Settings > General .
32 7 Sharing Data HUAWEI MediaPad allows you to share files in a n umber of ways. Sharing data anytime anywhe re means family and friends can share your exper i ences and are always by your side.
33 4. Choose the device with which you want to share the file. > If the desired device is not displayed, t ouch Other devices to enter the Wi-Fi Direct settin gs screen. Touch the desired device to connect to it. > If no Wi- F i Direct co nnection has been set up, HUAWEI MediaPad displays the Wi-Fi Direct settings screen.
34 3. Open the notification, an d touch Accept from the displayed dialog box to receive the file. Respond to Bluetooth pairing or data tran smission requests promptly to avo id connection failure. Connecting to a Computer You can connect HUAWEI MediaPad to a computer to exchange data.
35 2. On the computer, op en the USB flash d rive corresponding to HUA WEI MediaPad from My Computer. 3. Select desired files fro m the comput er, and copy them to the desired f older on HUAWEI Media Pad. The preceding descript ions apply to computers running Windows oper ating systems only.
36 8 Contacts Forget about lu gging around business card holders. With HUAWEI MediaPad, you can store your family and fr iends' contact details ea sily. In addition, its improved import and export functions let you conveniently recover contacts on different devices.
37 > Touc h Add another field to add contact information. 4. Touch to save the change s. Joining Contacts To avoid duplicate contacts, jo in two or more contacts together to form a single contact. You can join co ntacts stored in t he internal memory only, and not those st ored in the SIM card .
38 Deleting a Contact 1. From the Home screen, tou c h to display the contact list. 2. Select the contact you want to delete. 3. Touch > Delete > OK . To delete multiple cont acts at a time, fr om the contact l ist, touch > Delete contacts , and select the contacts you want to delete.
39 Backing Up Contacts to a microSD Card You can back up your contacts to a microSD card in case your contacts are accidentally deleted or lost because of system upgrade.
40 The .vcf file you i mport may not be compatible with your HUAWEI MediaPad. In this ca se, some contacts may be lost aft er you import th e files. Importing Contacts from a SIM Card You can insert a SI M card into your HUAWEI Med iaPad and then import contacts from the SIM card.
41 9 Email Communication is crucial, which is why HUAWEI MediaPad makes staying in touch with family and friends as simple as possible. Setting Up an Email Account HUAWEI MediaPad provides email functio ns. You can add email accounts to HUAWEI MediaPad and convenien tly send and receive emails.

46 11 Multimedia HUAWEI MediaPad enables you to listen to music, view photos, and watch videos on an HD display. You can also catch up on the most popular videos, list en to the latest hits, and experience HUAWEI Medi aPad's stunning top quality audio.
47 Sharing Photos and Videos You can share photos and videos via Bluetooth, email, and more. 1. From the Home screen, touch to open the gallery. 2. Touch and hold the photo, video, or folder until is displayed at the top of the screen. 3. Touch , and choose how you want to share the selected file or folder, for example, using Bluet ooth or DLNA.

49 Playing Videos HUAWEI MediaPad can work as a p ortable video player so that you can watch downloaded or streaming videos wherever you want. 1. From the Home screen, touch to open the gallery. 2. Touch the video you want to watch, and touch to play it.
50 12 Camera As time flies by, there must be some memories you want to keep forever. Camera is a great tool for this. Taking Photos Camera lets you capture and preserve every preciou s moment. From the Home screen, touch to open the camera. 1 Switch between camera and video ca pture modes.
51 Recording Videos Video camera enables you to re cord pieces of your life. From the camera screen, drag the slider in the upper righ t corner to enter video camera mode. 5 Touch to display t he options menu as follows: > : Select a picture mode. > : Select a filtering mode.
52 Taking a Panoramic Photo You can take several photos and stitch them into a single photo. 1. From the camera screen, open t he settings menu. 2. Touch > Pano rama to enter panoramic shooting mode. 3. Touch to start shoot ing. Move HUAWEI MediaPad slowly to capture the view.

56 Agenda Agenda automatica lly searches for your calenda r events and lets you know your d aily schedule at a glance. You can also set alarms for impo rtant events. To view your agenda , touch Agenda from t he calendar screen. 1 T ouch to switch Day/Week/Month/Agen da list view.
57 4 For events registered in a given account or item, you can switch between displaying th em on the calendar or hiding them. 5 Set a date you want to display on a calendar and move to it. 6 C reate an event. 7 Touch to switch t o the schedule list including the current day.

Open the target folder, and tou ch Paste . Deleting a Folder After you delete a f older, all contents in the folder are deleted.
62 17 Settings Adding an Account HUAWEI MediaPad enables to you add multip le accounts, such as email accounts. After adding an account, yo u can synchronize data between the accoun t and the server. 1. From the Home screen, tou c h > All > Add account .
63 Synchronizing an Account with Its Server You can synchronize dat a between accounts and their servers. The data you can synchron ize varies with the account service provider. Generally spe aking, you can synchronize emails, contacts, and e v ents. 1.
