2 Getting to Know Your E5 Pac ki ng Lis t The package should contain the following it ems. If any of the it ems are missi ng or damaged, contact yo ur local dealer immediately . 3 Connection Scenarios A Wi-Fi device or compu ter can be conn ected to the In ternet through the E5. Th e actual connection proced ure depends on the o peratin g system of the Wi-Fi device or comp uter . The connection sce narios illustrated here are for your reference.

7 Before You Start Installing the SIM Card and the Battery Caution: Do not use any SIM card that is not standar d or is incompatible with the E5. Otherwise, the E5 may be damaged. Insert the SI M card in the card slot . Be sure that the SIM ca rd is facin g in the ri ght direction, as shown in figure 2, and then slide the SIM card into t he slot.
8 Install ing the micr oSD Card Note: The microSD ca rd is an optional accesso ry . If a microSD card did not come with your modem, yo u may purchase o ne yourself . T o remove the micro SD card, press in the card ge ntly . The microSD card will pop out for removal.
9 Charging the Battery Note: If the battery has not been used for a lo ng time, it must be charged f irst. Method 1: Using the charger Caution: Only use chargers compatible with the E5 and provided by a designated manufact urer .
10 Accessing the Internet via Wi-Fi Connection Note: By default, manage ment parameters ar e preset on the E5 according to the requirement s of the service provide r . Follow the steps below to quickly access the Internet. For the details abo ut how to set management paramete rs, see Help on the W eb management page.
11 2. Establish a Wi-Fi Connection (T ake a computer with Windows ® XP oper ating system as an example) 1. Make sure that the Wi-Fi is ena bled. 2. Select Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > Wireless Network Connection . Note: T o set up a Wi-Fi connection, the PC m ust have a wireless network ada pter installed.
12 Note: If the encryption paramete r is already set for the E5, the Wireless Networ k Connection dialog box is displayed. Enter t he network key in the dialog box as shown below . The SSID and key label are affixed to yo ur E5, as illustrated belo w .
13 For example, if yo u are subscribed to the ti me-based network service, yo u are recommended to select Manual mode. F or details about the service expense, con sult your service provider . Mode Operations Auto After the E5 is power ed on, it will connect to the Inte rnet automatically if data tr ansmission is requir ed.
14 Accessing the Web Management Page 1. Make sure that the c onnection between t he E5 and the client is a prop er one. 2. Start the In ternet bro wser and enter http://192.168.1.1 in the addres s bar . 3. Enter the passwor d, and then click Logi n . Note: The default passwor d is admin .
15 Daily Use Pow er Sa vi ng M od e If the E5 is idle for a period of ti me, the screen turns off . If the E5 is using bat tery power and doe s not process data transmissio ns for 30 minutes, i t goes to deep sleep state and Wi-Fi is disabled. When the E5 is in deep sleep state, press any key to enable Wi-Fi and light up the screen.
16 RESET enable the WPS function of the E5. 4. Enable the WPS function of the client. Note: For WPS operations on t he client, see the user guide of t he client. Restorin g Fact ory Default s If you forget the cha nges you have made to some parameters, yo u may resto re factory defaults a nd reconfigure the E 5.

18 Example 1: Wi-Fi Connec tion to Game Machine (Sony PSP) 1. T urn on th e PSP WL AN sw i tch. 2. Select Settings > Network Settings. 3. Select Infrastructu re Mode to connect to your local Wi-Fi access point. 4. Select New Connection to specify an easy to remember co nnection name.
