13 2.7. 2 Noti fica tion Pa nel Your mobile phone will notify you wh en you receive a new message or there is an upcoming event. The notification panel also inf orms you of alarms and settings. Open the notification panel to see your network operator o r to view a message, reminder, or event no tificati on.
14 2.7.4 Customizing the H ome Screen Adding a New Home Scree n Item 1. Touch and hold a blank area on the Ho me screen until the Add to home screen menu is displayed. You can also touch > Add on the Home screen to display the Add to home screen menu.

16 3 Calling To make a phone call, you can dial a number us ing the keypad or touch a numbe r saved in your contact list, on a web page, or in other places. When yo u are in a call, you can answer other incoming calls or redirect them to your voicemail.
17 3.1. 3 Making a Cal l fr om Call log 1. On the Home screen, touch > Call log to display the call log. If you are alre ady working wi th Contacts or Dialer , touch the Call lo g tab. 2. Touch to the right of the log entry to dial. If you touch and ho ld a log entry, the options menu will open .
18 3.2.3 Rejecting an Inco ming Call Drag to the left to reject the call. You can also drag up the bar at the bottom of th e screen to reject a call an d send the caller a message.
19 3.3. 2 Switchi ng Betwee n Calls If you receive a new ca ll while you are already in a ca ll, you can switch betwee n the two calls. 1. While you are in the first c all and the second call comes in , answer the inc oming call, and then touch Swap .
20 4.1 Opening the Co ntacts Application If you have n ot yet added any contacts t o your mobile phone, Contacts displays a message with h ints on how to start adding contac ts information. On the Home screen, touch > Contacts to open the Contacts application.
21 4.5 Searching fo r a Contact 1. In the contact list, touch > Search . 2. Enter the name of the contact you w ish to search for. As you type , contacts with matching names ap pear below the search box. On the contact list screen, you can touch a letter on the right to display c ontacts starting with the touched let ter.

24 4.11 Joining and Separa ting Contacts You may have duplicate c ontacts if you import contacts by : • Adding an account, suc h as a Gmail account. • Using other methods, such as exchanging emails . To avoid duplication, join two or more con tacts together to form a single contact.
25 4.12 Sending Contacts You can send contacts as a .vc f file via Bluetooth or Email. 1. In the contacts list, touch . 2. Select contacts that you want to sen d. 3. Touch Send . 4. Select the way you prefer to send the c ontacts you have select ed, for example Bluetooth or Email.
26 5.1. 2 Using t he Andr oid Key board The keyboard layout may v ary slightly depending on the fiel d where you are entering text. The previous figur e is provided for your reference only. On the Home screen, touch > Settings > Language & keyboard > Android keyboard > Voice input to turn on or turn off voice input.
27 6 Messaging The Messaging application allows you to exch ange text messa ges (SMS) and multimedia messages (MMS) with anyo ne using an SMS-or-MMS-c apable phone. With the Email application you can read and s end emails. 6.1 SMS and MMS 6.1.1 Opening M essaging Touch > Messaging .
28 6.1. 3 Creati ng and Sending a Multimed ia Messag e You can use multimedia messages to make ev eryday communication s very special. You can record a message and send it as an audio file, sing 'Happy Birthday' and send it to friend, or send a slid eshow of photographs of a special event.
29 6.1.4 Opening and Viewing a Mu ltimedia Message 1. In the message list, touch the message t hread you wish to view. 2. Touch the multimedia message to view the message. 6.1. 5 Replyi ng to a Mes sage 1. In the message list, touch a text or multimedia messag e thread to open it.

With you r phone’s Email application, you can u se your email account wit h Yahoo!, AOL, or other po pular email services on your phone. 6.2.1 Adding an E mail Account When us ing the Email application for the first time , you must configure an email account.

32 6.2.7 Changing Em ail Account Settings You can change a number of account settings, includ ing how often you check fo r emails, how you ar e notified of a new mail, and details about t he servers the account uses to send and receive mails. Your account’s inco ming and outgoing settings depe nd on the kind of email service you are using.
