13 2.6.2 Noti fication Panel Your mobile phone will notify you whe n you receive a new mess age or there is an upcoming event. The notification panel also inf orms you of alarms and settings. Open t he notification pan el to see your netw ork operator or t o view a message, reminder, or event notification.
14 Opening the Notification Panel 1. When a new notificat ion icon appears on the notification ba r, place your finger on the noti fication bar and flick down to op en the notification pane l. 2. On the panel, you can: • Touch a notification to open th e related application.
15 Removing a Home Screen Item 1. Touch and hold an item on the H ome screen until the item expands a nd the mobile phone vibr ates. 2. Without lifting your fing er, drag the item to the trash can. When the item and the trash can turn red, th e item is ready to be removed.
16 When your microSD™ card acts as a U SB mass storage, your mobile phone will not use this memory space. Ens ure that you follow the correct proc edures to disconnect the USB mass storage dev ice (your mobile phone) f rom the PC when you have finis hed transferring files.
17 3.1.1 Maki ng a Call with the Di aler Applicat ion 1. On the Home screen, touch > Dialer to display the dialer. If you are already wor king with Contacts or Call log , touch the Dialer tab. 2. Touch the approp riate number keys to enter the phone numbe r.
18 3.2 Answering o r Rejecting a Ca ll 3.2.1 Ans wering an Incoming Call When you receive a p hone call, the incoming call screen o pens. If you have previ ously saved t he caller’ s number in Contacts , the caller's name a nd number are displayed.
19 3.3 Other Oper ations During a Call 3.3.1 Making a Con ference Call If you receive a new c all while you are already in a call, you can add the second call to the call you are in. This feature is know n as conferen ce calling. You can also set u p a conference call w ith multiple callers.
20 3.4.1 Addi ng an Entry to Contacts 1. If you are alread y working with Dialer or Contacts , touch th e Call log tab. 2. Touch and hold the ent ry you want to add to your Contacts . 3. Touch Add to contacts in the options menu. 4. Touch Create new contact or scroll thr ough the contac t list and touc h an existing contac t name.

Then touch Add to Favorites . • Touch a contact, and the n touch the star to the right of the c ontact’s name. The star turns gold. 4.3 In dexing Contact s You can index your Contacts to quickly find yo ur desired contact.
23 4.6 Communicating with Your Contacts From the Contacts or Favorites tab, you can quickly call or send a text (SMS) or multimedia (MMS) mess age to a contact’s d efault phone number. You can also open deta ils to view a list of a ll the ways you c an communicate wit h that contact.
24 4.8.1 Usin g a m icroSD™ Ca rd to Back Up Contacts Backing Up Contacts 1. In th e contact list, t ouch > Manage contacts . 2. Touch Backup to SD card in the displayed menu. 3. Touch OK to export your phone co ntact's informatio n to the installed microSD card.
25 4.9.2 Edit ing a Group You can always make chang es to the information y ou have saved for a gr oup. 1. In the groups list, touch and hold the group whose details you want to edit, and then touch Edit group in the options menu. 2. Make the desired chang es to the group information, and then touch Done .

27 5 Using the Onscreen Keyboard 5.1 Displaying the Keyboard To enter text, u se the onscreen key board. Some applications open the keyboard aut omatically. In others , touch a text field to open the keyboa rd. Touch to hide the keyboard. Touch and hold a text field to open t he Edit text menu.
28 5.1.3 Using t he Swype Keyboard The keyboard layout may vary slightly depending on the f ield where you are entering text . The previous figure is provided for your r eference only. 5.1.4 Using t he Landscape Keyboard If you find the keyboard in convenient or dif ficult to use, t urn your mobil e phone sideways.
29 5.2 Customizing Keyboard Settings 1. On the Home screen, touch > Settings > Language & keyboard . 2. In Keyboard settings , select an inp ut method to cust omize the keyboard settings.
30 6.1.3 Creat ing and Sending a Mult imedia Message You can use multimedia message s to make everyday communic ations very special. You can r ecord a message and sen d it as an audio file, sing 'Hap py Birthday' and send it to f riend, or send a slideshow of photographs of a s pecial event.

34 7 Getting Connected 7.1 Turning on the Data Service 1. Touch > Settings . 2. Touch Wireless & networks > Mobile networks . 3. Select the Data enabled check box to turn on the data connection. 7.2 Wi-Fi Wi-Fi gives you wi reless access to broadband Internet.
35 7.3 Browser Your mobile phone comes wit h an Internet browser pre- installed. 7.3.1 Ope ning the Browser Touch > Browser to open the home page. When known or open W i-Fi networks and mobile data networks are available at the same time, your phone will preferably select a Wi-Fi network for Inte rnet access.
36 7.3.4 Man aging Bookmarks You can store as many boo kmarks as you wan t on your mobile phone. Adding a Bookmark 1. In a browser win dow, go to the webpage you want to save as a bookmark. 2. Touch , and then touch Bookmarks > Add . 3. Edit the bookmark name and t hen touch OK .

39 Capture Screen On the capture scre en, touch to show the capture panel. 8.1.2 Taking a Pho to 1. Open your camera application and switch it to camer a mode. 2. If necessary , change the camera settings . The preview changes as you change the sett ings.
40 8.1.4 Reco rding a Video 1. Open the camera app lication, and then switch it to camcorder mode. 2. If necessary , change the camcorder se ttings. 3. Frame the scene with wh ich you want to start your video. 4. Touch to start recording a video. 5. Touch to stop recording.
41 8.2.2 Viewi ng a Picture 1. In Gallery , touch the folder th at contains the picture s you want to view. 2. Touch the picture to view it in full-screen mod e. 3. Touch the screen. Then the zoom panel app ears. You can zoom in o r zoom out on the picture.
42 3. Create a folder in the roo t directory of the microSD card (for example, Music ). 4. Copy the music from yo ur computer to the folder yo u have created. 5. After c opying music, unmou nt or eject the drive as req uired by your PC’s operating system to safe ly remove the mobile phone.
