9 2.2.2 Charging the Battery Before charging th e battery, ensure that it has be en properly installed on your phone. 1. Connect the USB cable that came wit h your mobile phone to the ch arger. 2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to your mobile pho ne.
10 2.2. 3 Importa nt Inf ormati on About the Bat tery • If the battery has not been used for a long time, you may not be able to power on your mobile phone immediately afte r you begin charging the batte ry. Allow the battery to charge for a few minut es with the phone powered off bef ore attempting to power the phone on.

12 2.4 Using the Touchscreen 2.4.1 Touchscree n Actions • Touch : Tap the screen with yo ur finger to select an item, confirm a select ion, or start an app lication. • Touch and hold : Touch an item with your finger and do not release it until the mobile phone responds .
13 2.5.2 Unlocking the Screen 1. Press t o wake up the sc reen. 2. Drag the lock icon from left to right to unlock the scr een. If you have set up a screen unlock pattern, you will be prompted to draw the pattern on the screen to unlock it. 2.6 Home Screen 10:23 Touch to view all your applications.

15 2.6. 2 Notif icati on Pane l Your mobile phone will notify you wh en you receive a new mess age or there is an upcoming event. The notification panel also inf orms you of alarms and settings. Open the notification panel to see your network operator o r to view a message, remind er, or event no tificati on.
16 Opening the Notification Panel 1. When a new notification icon a ppears on the notification ba r, place your finger on the notification bar an d flick down to open the not ification panel. You can also open the notifica tion panel from the Home screen: Touch > Notifications to open the panel.
17 2.6.4 Customizing the Home Screen Adding a New Home Scree n Item 1. Touch and hold a blank area on the Ho me screen until the Select action menu is displayed. You can also touch > Add on the Home screen to display the Select action menu. 2. Select an item to add it to the Home screen.

19 2.8.2 Using the m icroSD Card as a US B Mass Storage To transfer all y our favorite mu sic and pictur es from your P C to your mob ile phone’s microSD card, set the microSD card as a U SB mass storage. 1. Connect your mobile phone to your PC with the USB cabl e provided.
20 Be careful not to block the microphone at the bottom of your pho ne if you want your voice heard by the othe r parties in a call. 3.1. 1 Making a Call with t he Diale r Appli catio n 1. On the Home screen, touch > Dialer to display the dial er. If you are alre ady working w ith Contacts or Call lo g , touch the Dialer tab.
21 3.2 Answering or Reje cting a Call 3.2.1 Answering an Incoming C all When you receive a phone c all, the incoming call screen opens. If you ha ve previously save d the caller’s numb er in Contacts , the caller's na me and number are displayed.
22 3.2.3 Rejecting an Incoming Call Drag to the left to reject the call. You can also drag up the bar at the bottom of the screen to rejec t a call and send the caller a message.
23 3.3. 2 Switch ing Bet ween Cal ls If you receive a new ca ll while you are already in a ca ll, you can switch bet ween the two calls. 1. While you are in the first call and the second call c omes in, answer the incoming call, and then touch Swap . 2.
24 4.1 Opening the Contacts Applica tion If you have n ot yet added any contac ts to your mob ile phone, Contacts displays a message with h ints on how to start adding c ontacts information . On the Home screen, touch > Contacts to open the Contacts application.
25 4.5 Searching for a Con tact 1. In the contact list, touch > Search . 2. Enter the name of the contact you w ish to search for. As y ou type, contacts with matching names ap pear below the search box . On the contact list screen, you can touch a letter on the right to display c ontacts starting with the touched let ter.

For details, see Ch anging an Account’s Synchroniz ation Settings. 4.10 Streams Streams is a client that integrates social n etworking serv ice (SNS) function s, such as Facebook and Twitter.
28 4.10 .4 Addi ng the Stre ams Widget to the Home Scree n Touch and hold t he blank area of the Home s creen. In the d isplayed menu, touch Add widget > Streams to add it to the Home screen. Using the widget, yo u can quickly acce ss Streams , or directly browse t he latest events and update the st atus of your friends on the Home screen.
29 • When editing a group, touch , and then touch Add Members to select t he contacts you w ant to add to group. You can add contacts in pho ne memory rather than in SIM/UIM car d to a group. 4.12 Joining and Separa ting Contacts You may have duplicate c ontacts if you import contact s by: • Adding an account, suc h as a Gmail account.
30 The joint contact is then separa ted into two contacts displayed se parately in Contacts . 4.13 Sending Contacts You can send contacts as a .vc f file via Bluetooth or Email. 1. In the contacts list, touch . 2. Select contacts that you want to sen d.
31 5.1. 2 Using t he Androi d Keyb oard The keyboard layout may v ary slightly depending on the fie ld where you are entering text. The previous fi gure is provided f or your refere nce only. On the Home screen, touch > Settings > Language & keyboard > Android keyboard > Voice input to turn on or turn off voice input.
32 6 Messaging The Messaging application allows you to ex change text mes sages (SMS) and multimedia messages (MMS) with anyo ne using an SMS-or-MMS-c apable phone. With the Email application you can read and s end emails. 6.1 SMS and MMS 6.1.1 Opening M essaging Touch > Messaging .
33 2. Enter a phone number in the To field, or tou ch to select a conta ct from Contacts or Groups . 3. Touch the composition text box to start entering your message. 4. Touch to disp lay the options panel. • Touch Add subject to add the messa ge subject.

35 Adding Other Email Accounts 1. After creating your initial email account , touch on the Inbox screen, and then touch More > Accounts to acce ss the acco unts scr een. 2. Touch on the acc ounts screen, and then t ouch Add account to create another email account.
36 6.2. 5 Replyi ng to an Emai l Messa ge 1. On the accounts screen, touch t he email account you wa nt to use. 2. Touch the email message to which you want to reply. 3. Touch Reply or Reply all to reply to the email message. 6.2. 6 Deleti ng an Emai l Accou nt 1.
37 7.1.1 Checking the Network Conn ection 1. Touch > Settings . 2. Touch Wireless & networks > Mobile networks . 3. Touch Network operators or Access Point Name s to check the ne twork connection. Your mobile phone will automatically read the acces s point settings from the SIM/UIM card ( if any).
38 • If you select a network that is secur ed with Wired Equiva lent Privacy (WEP) and connect to it for the firs t time, enter the passw ord as prompted, and th en touch Connect .
39 7.4 WPS The Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS ) function simplifies the opera tions to set up Wi-Fi networks and configure net work security setting s. When connecting to a Wi-Fi netw ork via WPS, ensure that the Wi- Fi access point to be connected suppo rts the WPS function.
40 Touch to open the browser options menu and perf orm one of the following operations: • New window : Touch to open a new wind ow. • Bookmarks : Touch to display bookmarks . • Windows : Touch to view thum bnails of open browse r windows. You ca n switch to another browse r window or open a ne w one on this screen.
41 Opening a Bookmark 1. In a browser window, touch , and then touch Bookmarks . On the Bookmarks screen, touch the Histor y tab to view the pages you have visited, or touch the Most visited tab to view the pages you have vis ited most frequently. 2. Touch the bookmark of the website you want to open.

43 8.1 Taking P hotos and Recording Vide os The camera is a comb ination of came ra and camcord er that you ca n use to shoot a nd share pictures and videos . 8.1.1 Opening Y our Camera • Touch > Camera to open the camera. The camera opens in lands cape mode, ready t o take a pic ture or rec ord a video.
44 8.1. 3 Viewi ng Your Photos 1. After taking a photo, a thumbnail of th e photo you have just taken is shown in the upper right corner of the capture screen. Touch the thumbnail to view it. 2. Touch the onscreen button t o do any of the following : • Touch Share to send the photo in a message or pos t it online.

46 8.3 Enjoying Music 8.3.1 Opening the Music Library On the Home screen, touch > Music to open the music library. The music library automatically sc ans for music s tored on you r microSD ca rd and displays them in Albums , Songs , Playlis ts , Folders .
47 8.3. 2 Playin g Music 1. From the music library, se lect a way to vi ew your musi c. 2. Touch the music file you want to play. While playing music, touch to return to the Home screen, the music will continue to play in the background and you ca n use other applications .
48 8.3. 5 Playin g Music i n a Playl ist 1. In music library, touch Playli sts . 2. Touch and hold the playlist you want to play. 3. Touch Play to play the playlist. 8.4 Listening to the FM Radio The FM radio lets you listen to FM radio programs on yo ur mobile phone.
49 2. Touch Create . 3. Enter the first name, last name, and user name for your Google accou nt , and then touch Next . The mobile phon e will connect to a Google server to check whether th e username is available. If the userna me yo u entered is already in us e, you will be prompted to choose ano ther one or select one from a list .
50 2. Enter the message recipient ’s email address in the To field. If you are sending the email to several recipie nts, separate the e mail addresses with co mmas. You can add as many message r ecipients as you wan t. If you want to send a copy (Cc ) or a blind copy (Bcc) of the email to other recipients, touch , and then touch Add Cc/Bcc .

60 2. Enter the event name. • If there is a time frame for the event, touch From and To to set the beginning and end times of the event. • If the event is a special occasion such as a birt hday or a day-long activit y, set the date for From and To , and then select the All da y check box.

65 11.9 Richpad Richpad combines text note and pa int note functions. In the note list, you can add, edit, and delete notes. 1. Touch > Tools > Richpad to open the application. 2. Touch , and then touch Add text note or Add paint note to create a note.
66 11.10.2 Upda ting Weather You can update weath er information on the weath er clock either manually or automatically. To u pdate the cu rrent city's lat est weather infor mation, touch > Refresh on the weather clock s creen. You can also set your phone to update the weather info rmation automatically.
