Install the battery by inserting it with its exposed copper part aligned with the protruding copper conductor on the right side of the battery compartment. Inser t the right side of the battery first, and then gently push the battery into place.

14 Section 1: Getting Started Switching to Sleep Mode Quickly pressing the Po wer K ey turns off the displa y temporarily and switches your device to sleep mode . Sleep mode suspends your device to a low power sta te while the display is of f in order to save ba ttery power .

18 Section 1: Getting Started The Start Menu The Start menu, located at the top left corner of the T oday screen, displays a list of progr ams. It lets you close a screen and switch from one progr am to another .
Section 1: Getting Started 19 HT C Home HT C Home is a T oday screen plug-in that gives y ou up-to-date local information a t a glance, such as time, day and weather information, and show s new messages and missed calls. It also has a customizable launcher where y ou can add your f avorite applications for one-touch access.
20 Section 1: Getting Started The Home tab Home displays the curr ent day , da te and local time. When you hav e new incoming messages and calls , it shows you the number of new email and text messages, and missed calls. If you hav e set up the alarm, it also shows the Alarm icon.

When this check box is selected, weather inf ormation will automatically be downloaded from the AccuW eather W eb site whenever you select the W eather tab, if the da ta has not been updated within the last three hours.

36 Section 3: Using Phone Features 3.1 Using the Phone Like a standard wir eless phone, you can use your de vice to make, receive, and k eep track of calls and send SMS text messages. Y ou can also take notes while talking and dial directly fr om Contacts.
Section 3: Using Phone Features 37 Airplane mode Another way to turn of f the phone function is to switch your device to Airplane mode . When y ou enable Airplane mode, it turns off all wir eless radios on your de vice, which include the phone function and Bluetooth.

Adjusting the volume at another time will aff ect the ring , notification, and MP3 sound levels. When you enable Vibr ate mode, sound will automatically be muted and the device will vibra te when an incoming call is received.

Section 3: Using Phone Features 41 T o put a call on hold: Y our device notifies you when you hav e another incoming call, and gives y ou the choice of rejecting or accepting the call. If you are alr eady on a call and accept the new call, you can choose to switch between the two callers , or set up a conf erence call between all three parties.
42 Section 3: Using Phone Features T o mute a call: Y ou can turn off the microphone during a call, so that you can hear the caller but the caller cannot hear you. During a call, tap Mute . When the microphone is turned of f , the mute icon ( ) appears on the screen.

11.1 Using the Built-in C amera T aking photos and capturing video clips along with audio is easy with the built-in camer a on your device. Camera K ey T o open the Camera screen: Press the Camer a K ey on your device. —or— T ap Star t > Programs > Camera .
Contacts Picture : Captur es a still image with the option to immediately assign it as a Photo ID for a contact. Picture Theme : C aptures still images and place them within frames. Panor ama : Ideal for taking scenic shots. Captures parts of a scenery and then stitches all the shots to create a panor amic view of the scenery .

T o zoom in or out of an image: With your fing er , make a full-circle motion on the screen. Slide your finger clockwise to zoom in. —or— Slide your finger c ounter-clockwise to zoom out.
Tips: When you zoom in on an image, y ou can double-tap the screen to automatically z oom out and fit the image to the screen. When you zoom in on an image, touch and hold the scr een so you can pan the image.
