Lift the rear edge 1 of the top co ver until it rests at an angle. 9. Slide the top cov er 2 back until the fingerprint reader board cable is accessible.

4–60 Maint enance and Servi ce Guide Remo val and replacement procedures Fa n/heat sink assembly ✎ T o properly ventilate the computer , allow at least 7.6 cm (3 in) of clearance on the left side of the computer . The computer uses an electric fan for ventilation.

4–6 2 Maintenance and Service Gui de Remo val and replacement procedures ✎ The thermal material must be thoroughly cleaned from the surfaces of the fan/heat sink assembly and the system board each time the fan/heat sink assembly is remov ed: ■ Thermal paste is used on the processor 1 and the heat si nk section 2 that services it.
