8 © 2001 Directed Electr onics , Inc . Vista, CA How to fin d (+)12V ignition with your m ultimeter: 1. Set to DCV or DC voltage (12V or 20V is fin e). 2. Attach th e (-) probe of th e meter to chassis groun d. 3. Probe th e wire you suspect of bein g the igniti on wire .

Vista, CA 9 The best places to fin d the door pin switch wire are: ■ At th e pinswitch: When testin g at the pinswitch, ch eck the wire to en sure that it “sees” all the d oors. Often, the passen ger switch will cover all the d oors even if the driver’s switch will n ot.
10 © 2001 Directed Electr onics , Inc . Vista, CA 4. T urn the igniti on key switch to the start positi on. Make sur e the car is not in g ear! If your meter reads (+)12V , go to th e next step. If it d oes not, probe a differ ent wire . 5. Cut the wir e you suspect of being th e starter wire .

If the li ght flash polarity jumper insi de the unit is m oved to the opposite position (see th e Internal Jumpers section of this gui de), this wire suppli es a (-) 200 mA output.

It cannot be connected directly to the domelight circuit, as the output cannot support the current draw of one or more bulbs .
© 2001 Directed Electr onics , Inc . Vista, CA 15 This wire is used in vehi cles that have a positive (+) switched dom e light cir cuit. Connect the vi olet wire to a wire that sh ows (+)12V when any d oor is opened, an d ground wh en the door is closed .

Conn ect the black wire o f the siren to (-) chassis gr ound, pr eferably at the sam e point you connect th e control m odule’s black groun d wire . Befor e connecting this wir e, r emove the suppli ed fuse.
© 2001 Directed Electr onics , Inc . Vista, CA 17 auxiliary harness (H2) wir e connection guide This wire suppli es a (-) 200 mA output that can be used to honk the vehi cle’s horn. It pr ovides a pulsed output when th e security system is in the trigg ered sequence or in pani c mode .
18 © 2001 Directed Electr onics , Inc . Vista, CA has no fun ction. If the custom er wants the system to autom atically lock the d oors when the system passively arms , connect this wire to th e lock circuit in the vehi cle. An opti onal relay m ay be required .
© 2001 Directed Electr onics , Inc . Vista, CA 19 This system is used in man y four-door GM sed ans. T o test for this type of system, pr obe the unlock wire fr om the interi or switch (black or white). Unlock the d river’s door , by itself, using the f actory remote .
20 © 2001 Directed Electr onics , Inc . Vista, CA NOTE: Failure to insert the diodes at the correct point will allow the system to be disarmed by one of the power door lock switches inside the vehicle . The best place to insert the diode is at the keyless entry module itself or at the relays .

The LED will flash on ce to confirm the lock polarity was learned . plug-in harnesses The super-bri ght LED operates at 2VDC. M ake sure th e LED wires are n ot shorted to groun d as the LED will be dam aged.
