Quick Installa tion Guide 1 Installation is Easy Y our new thermostat has been designe d for fast an d easy installation. Just follo w the simple step-by-step instructions in the following pages. Identify your system type. Remove your old thermostat.
RTH2310 Programmable Thermostat 2 This thermostat is compatible wi th the following systems: • Gas, oil or electric furnace • Central air condition er • a hot water system with or without pump .
Quick Installa tion Guide 3 1) T urn power off at the h eating/cooling system. 2) Remove old thermostat, but leave wallplate with wires attached. MERCUR Y NOTICE : Do not put your old thermostat in the trash if it contains mercury in a sealed tube.
RTH2310 Programmable Thermostat 4 If any wires are not attached to your old thermostat or are attached to a terminal marked C or C1 , they will not be connected to your new thermostat. Wrap the bare met al end of each of these wires with elec trical tape, so it cannot touch and short other wires.
Quick Installa tion Guide 5 1) Remove coverplate. 2) Loosen screw (the screw remains captive on wallplate). 3) Remove thermostat. 4) Mark and drill appropriate mounting holes (or use existing holes). Insert plastic anchors. Pass wires through opening of wallplate and secure wallplate to the wall using provided screws.
RTH2310 Programmable Thermostat 6 1) Match each labeled wire with the terminal having the same letter . 2) Loosen the terminal screws using a screwdriver , insert the wires, then tighten the screws. 3) Push any excess wire back into the wall opening. Connect Wires (typical wiring) 5.
Quick Installa tion Guide 7 If a labeled wire does n ot match any terminal designation, see diagram below . Do not use C, X or B. Wrap bare end o f wire with electrical tape. If wires are connected to both Rh and Rc terminals, remove jumper (se e previous page).
RTH2310 Programmable Thermostat 8 Set the Jumper J2, o n the back of the thermost at, if you have connected a wire to the G terminal . Specify Furnace T ype 6. HG Leave the jumper in this factor y-set position if you ha ve a gas or oil furnace. HE Place the jumper to this position if yo u have an electric furnace.
Quick Installa tion Guide 9 1) Pull out the battery cover . 2) Install the batteries as shown. Observe the polarity . 3) Reinstall the battery cover . Y ou will hea r a clicking sound. After the batteries are inst alled, the thermostat per- forms a series of tests for approximately 5 seconds.

Guide d’installa tion rapide 3 1) Mettre le système de chauffage /climatisation hors tension. 2) Enlever l’ancien thermostat, mais pas la plaque murale et les fils qui y sont reliés. A VIS SUR LE MERCURE : Ne pas jeter votre ancien thermostat aux ordures s’il contient une ampoule de mercure.

Guide d’installa tion rapide 5 1) Retirer le couvercle. 2) Dévisser la vis de fixation (elle reste captive sur la plaque murale). 3) Retirer le thermostat. 4) Marquer et percer des trous de fixation (ou utiliser les trous existant). Insérer les chevilles d'ancrage.
Thermostat programmable R TH2310 6 1) Associer chaque fil étique té à la borne ayant la même lettre. 2) Dévisser les vis des bornes avec un tournevis, insérer les fils et resserrer les vis. 3) Repousser les fils en trop dans le mur . Branchement (typique) 5.
Guide d’installa tion rapide 7 Si un fil étiqueté ne correspon d pas à aucune borne, voir le diagramme ci-dessous. Ne pas utiliser C, X ou B. Enrouler le bout dénudé du fil avec du ruban isolant. Si des fils sont reliés aux bornes Rh et Rc, enlever le cavalie r (voir la page précéden te).

Un d éclic se fera entendre. Une fois les piles installées, le thermo stat ef fectue une série de tests, qui dure enviro n 5 secondes.
