1 INTRODUCTION Thank you for purchasing your new RC-100 electronic communicating thermostat. Your thermostat will provide you with comfort, convenience, and energy s avings for years to come. We hope that you take a few moments to become familiar with all of the features of this fine product by rev iewing this manual.
2 ABOUT HEAT PUMPS... A heat pump is a mechanical refrigeration s ystem that operates in two modes, heating and cooling. In cooling mode, the heat pump takes indoor heat and pumps it outside, just like a standard air cond itioner. In heating mode, the process is re versed: the heat pump tak es outside heat and pumps it inside.
3 ENERGY EFFICIENT CONTROL Using the programmable or remote control features of your thermostat, you can save en ergy costs by setting back the thermostat during unoccupied times.
4 OPERATION To take advantage of all the benefits and features offered by your thermostat, we recommend that you start by becoming fam iliar with its operation.
5 3- Prog Press the Prog (programming) key to set the current time and d ay (hours, minutes, day of week), and to program the temperature time schedules for the MORN, D AY, EVE, and NITE periods. 4- Mode Press the Mode ke y to set the therm ostat mode to Off, Heat , Cool, Auto , or EM Heat .
6 6- Down Arrow ( ∨ ) Press the Down Arrow key to lower the desired temperature. 7- Up Arrow ( ∧ ) Press the Up Arrow ke y to raise t he desired tempe rature. 8- Aux Heat Indicator The AUX HEAT indicator (green) glows when the auxiliary heat is on.
7 DISPLAY The following icons will b e displayed during nor mal operation: 1- Temperature Display Shows the current temperature, de sired temperature, or heating and cooling settings. 2- Time Display Shows the current time of d ay. 3- DESIRED DESIRED is displayed when the temperature display shows the desired temperature setting.
8 5- The Top is displayed when the hea ting o r cooling system is running. The Bottom is displayed whe n the Auxiliary h eat is on. 6- COOL COOL is displayed when the sy stem is in Cool m ode. 7- AUTO AUTO is displayed when in automatic chang eover mode.
9 13- HOLD HOLD is displayed when the s ystem is in Hold mode. FILTER REMINDER Your thermostat logs the amount of time your heating and cooling system has been running and gives y ou a reminder when it's time to replace your filter.
10 SETTING THE CURREN T TIME AND DAY To set or change the current time and day, press and release the Prog key. The hour will blink . 1. Use the arrow keys ( ∧ − ∨ ) to change the hour . 2. Press the Prog key to advance to minutes. 3. Use the arrow ke ys ( ∧ − ∨ ) to change minutes.
11 PROGRAMMING Your thermostat may be progr ammed to adjust th e heating and co oling settings up to 4 times per day ( MORN, DAY, EVE, and NITE). You can setup a temperature tim e schedule for weekdays, Saturda y, and Sunday. To enter programming mode, pr ess the Prog key 4 times.
12 SETTING TIME SCHEDULES To view or change the programming time schedules of your thermostat, press and the P rog key four times. The weekday MORN time will flash. 1. Use the arrow keys ( ∧ − ∨ ) to change th e scheduled time for the displayed period ( MORN, DAY, EVE, or NITE).
13 Repeat steps 1-6 for the DAY, EVE, and NITE periods. Afterwards, repeat steps 1-6 for 4 daily periods on Saturdays (Day 6), and 4 daily periods on Sundays (Day 7). The temperature display will show "6" for Saturdays, and "7" for Sunday times.
14 SYSTEM MODE Your thermostat can be conn ected to an automation system or personal computer. With network softwa re, the remote system can send commands to the thermostat to change m ode, cool setting, heat setting, status of fan and hold, and oth e r items.
TIME SCHEDULES The table below shows the time schedules that are currentl y set into your thermostat. There is a blan k table at the bottom that can be used to plan changes t o the current sch edule.

TWO YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY Home Automation, Inc. (HAI), warrants this product against defects in material and workmanship, under norma l use and service, for a period of two (2) years from the date of p urchase by the consumer. During the warranty period, HAI will repair or replace, at its option, any HAI thermostat that fails due to defect.
